ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Spurs would give Liverpool a game. Probably one of the only sides in the last couple of years who haven´t rolled over for them at some point. The problem lies in the fact deep down you know they won´t have enough.

The one little spec of positivity with them being good again was that it looked like we’d be the ones to ultimately deny them the league.

But we’re not allowed to enjoy anything when it comes to football, so obviously they’re going to go and win the CL.

2005 all over again
They might well win the CL. Might.

When sunday comes and City finish the PL off they'll have to go and pick that consolation prize up. Not great for us to endure, but not a foregone conclusion for them either.

It was so much easier last year, i was relatively confident with Real being the one on other side, completely different ball game this year unfortunately

They're trophies. We're currently like some banger Ford KA trying to nitpick at the faults in an Aston Martin.

We're all sitting here screaming City on for the title, then switching for Barca for the semis and now we could have to cheer Spurs on to win the European Cup before we even get a sniff of it.

We need to take a step back as a fanbase and realise we have our own club to concentrate on. Honestly feels like the last three years we've just been supporting whoever is playing against them, as we get nothing from our own club.

It´s what we´re left to do though because we really are that bad. Nothing we can do to change what goes on at our club. I don´t even like thinking about the state of affairs at Everton anymore because it just winds me up too much.

Why are you comparing us with them? The comparison is them and real elite clubs of the last decade.

Why aren't you getting this?
Because the obsession some of our fans have with them needs to end.

We’re supporting a club that haven’t won a trophy in almost a quarter of a century, yet we’re concerning ourselves with if Liverpool might win the league or CL.

We should be asking ourselves why we aren’t ever involved in anything remotely important.

Exactly. A PL game. Kane would be back for it and Son.

Game on if that happens. But Ajax really are a wild card. Just about anything can happen with them. I defo wouldn't choose them to play.

Depends on what you call a foregone conclusion. I wouldn’t take 5/1 on either Ajax or Spurs in that game

We demand more from the club. It’s what they have done for years. We’ve just sat back and allowed the decline.

No it doesn't. They are our local rivals. They obsess about keeping a grip of their relation with us too.

Are you sure you know how football rivalry works?

I can´t make up my mind. There´s arguments for and against with both. I don´t even know what Ajax are like at the back but I can imagine Liverpool´s front three would fancy their chances a lot.

Then you'd be a mug, because it's a one off. Liverpool dont always play like they did tonight. As you know if you think back a few short days.

Yes, I know how it works.

We’re that concerned with how they’re doing, we don’t even care about the state of our own club anymore.

Spurs have managed to eclipse Arsenal and City have done the same with United. We seem to be content with just supporting whoever is playing against them.
It’s actually becoming embarrassing now.

They've accounted for some decent teams with decent forward lines.

Ajax or Spurs will be second favourites, but they wont be David v Goliath. Just look at how Liverpool have struggled to get a goal win against Fulham, Newcastle etc etc.

Don´t do it to yourself. As a fan base, I don´t think our supporters have got the stomach for that kind of fight. Even if we did though, what would it realistically achieve? The decisions are out of our hands.
