ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

The usual cult article: guidleines are to attack Everton like they're a pub team; ignore the reality of a failing Liverpool team; gloss over any mistakes made by Der Fuehrer Klopp.

Honest to God, that paper should have died of shame years ago.
Ha ha ha free flowing football, they played more long ball then any team I've seen this season at goodison, hoof it and leg it .

This has literally been their modus operandi for years. Even under Rafael, their build up play consisted of the centrebacks lashing long diagonals out to Kuyt who would try to us style the defensive clearance which would be won back in midfield quickly and then slipped through to Torres. Ditto their title charge under Brendan and it’s exactly the same now. Rodgers actually tried to implement a possession based philosophy and the mutants absolutely hated it. Gerrard got in a huff and the fans booed it off. They just want it lashed forward to the front man as quickly as possible which is what Rodgers reverted to in 13/14. We refused to play their game on Sunday and just punted it straight back and they had absolutely no clue what to do with the ball. Their chances came from the two Schneiderlin errors. Ours actually came from football from back to front.

Hoof it and Leg has replaced the old Pass and Move ( livpool groove )

Van Dijk is literally their best midfielder. They pass it round the back for ages pretending to have a probe then almost every single time Van Dijk launches it out wide. The midfielders never even get involved in the build up. They just chase after the punt hoping to snaffle up the clearance. You’ve got to give it to Klopp that he’s absolutely perfected it but there’s no way anyone can say that the football liverpool play is of the same type as Barca City Madrid old Arsenal etc. Front foot possession based, build from the back, midfielders looking to break down defences, that’s just not what Liverpool do. Liverpool’s football is effective but will always fall down against the very best possession sides as it is fundamentally based on relying on what the opposition do with the ball. If the opposition outplay you (which keeps happening in the finals they keep losing) then their football falls down. Equally if the opposition refuses to play with it (which is what us, United and Bayern did) then their football falls down. Liverpool are just always hoping that teams will be sloppy in possession and that their press is fit and in form. If either doesn’t happen then they just look like a long ball team with two world record fee players bolstering their defence.

Considering they have the easier run in than City, I do find the odds a little strange. City now 1/3 favs and the RS 5/2. Thought they would be a little tighter. Will be interesting to see if they change if Bayern knock them out the CL and City advance.

how do they have an easier run in?

Hope SAF comes out in the next few weeks with a corker. One comment would get right inside Klopp head.
If Solskjaer went on the wind up, he'd be signing his permanent contract right now.

Pep probably is right not to get too emotionally invested into such battles as I think it would affect him as much as it would the other guy though.

SAF and Mourinho are arch mischief makers though when it comes to Liverpool. Heck, I'd even like to see an Arsene-ism about them!
