ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Fernandinho is a huge blow. Laporte also. Ok, Liverpool had Gomes who got done early - IMO a more useful CB than even VVD - but City are going to feel these games now. I think they have to tank that cup game against Swansea.

Not a chance will they tank the cup match.

They should.

If they dont then that's another week playing football and not resting up like Liverpool.

Have you ever played football at a decent standard? I ask that not as a deflection, more so that within reason, routine and muscle memory at the later stages of a season can actually be maintained with a crowded fixture list.

No need for 8 days of pointless training at this stage of a season. Play, rest, rest, play. Win, win ,win. It can become a habit. Injuries, granted, are the wild card. But that is a wild card no one can cater for.

Injuries aren't a wild card, they come about with fatigue. City are suffering them now: two limped off today to add to the two who limped off last Sunday. These players are playing too many games.

It isn't rocket science.

A lot of these City players will be hitting almost 58/60 games for the season; if Liverpool's players are playing about 8/10 games less on average then that is a massive extra burden. Itls draining both physically and mentally...many coming off summer world cups.

It just cant be done. If Liverpool are kept in the CL for another 4 matches after this then that MAYBE makes an impact.

As things stand (and you can see City's players dropping like nine pins now) Liverpool will win this title by a couple of points.

I just dont get the chase for the LC from Man City. Or the FA Cup. Itls daft and it;ll cost them on the two biggest trophies.

Considering the rs have had a free run without the league cup and FA cup Dave I'd say they've looked very leggy in a lot of games.

I'm a big believer in momentum, setting City have got after a fantastic week

De Bruyne out "for a while" - Guardiola.

That's how you lose a title: stretching youself in competitions like the FA Cup and LC.

Strategically it's moronic to give those trophies your all if your objective is the PL and CL.

They need quick recoveries from Laporte and Fernandinho (and Liverpool to get a crock or two) or this title is headed to Anfield for sure.
It’s called having a winning mentality. And city curry have it in abundance

Quite a few years ago I played in a side that won every comp that we entered so towards the back end of the season we were playing three times a week but we still won 14 on the bounce in all comps, when we were playing like that no one felt tired, we were buzzing. Winning gives you wings

Top teams like city don't tank games because they win stacks of trophies. Leave the tanking matches to klopp and let him enjoy staring at his bare trophy cabinet.
