ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

The extent of Firmino's injury could be a massive part in their fortunes as he plays a pivotal role in how their front three works. Without him, they're worse off.

According to the BBC, he left Old Trafford on crutches so while Klopp tried to play it down in his interview, I think we can all hope that it's a little bit more serious.
He'll have to park in handicap parking spaces this week.

They’re going to give Firmino painkilling injections and make him play like they do with all their key players when they pick up a knock.

In for a week, out for a month doesn't suit how their front line plays so it's a real bonus. While he's undoubtedly a talented finisher, he won't do the required work.
yep I agree entirely, sturridge isn't suited to a lopp front three, and firmino even though he doesn't get the returns of the other two is maybe the biggest grafter. About time they had some injuries

Sturridge will be on the bench for the derby.

0-0, with 85 minutes played, and he's on as sub to do the business.

Hate to be pessimistic, but it's Everton isn't it?

  • United more threatening and creative than Liverpool, even though their game plan was destroyed by injuries
  • Salah throwing another "come and get me Madrid/Barca" hissy fit getting subbed
  • Firmino hobbling away from OT on crutches
  • Kopites feeling the hot breath of City on their necks and sweating like a glass blower's arse

That's an acceptable days worth of association football.

The Firmino injury will be interesting. Sturridge and Origi don’t link with the other two and don’t press as much. I think the draw was avtually a good result for them though. They’ve still got the advantage after a difficult fixture. City have to win at OT now and we need to take points off them.

Like you say, he's the real grater in their front line who will press, harass and work defences which leaves them no time. He'll happily chase 40 yards to win a ball!

However also to his credit, which is difficult to say, his movement is very good and he has flicks, dropping of the shoulders and clever movement - he's the vital cog.

Without him, Salah and Mane will have to do a lot more work as they will not be able to rely on Sturridge working his socks off; Salah looks knackered as well!

By Klopp logic, an injury to one of their players should negatively effect our performance....

It's the late RS goals that have been killing us recently.

Whatever the score, we need to be pressuring them in the last 5 minutes, with the ball nowhere near Pickford's goal.
