ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Couple of things that stood out for me in liverpool's financial results were the fact that they only paid 10m of the FSG off. This is strange when the interest rate has increased to 2.4%.

FSG seem determined to eke as much as they can from this stone. Considering it's over 100m profit one can assume they wont be making any payments next year when they make a loss, all the while the loan creeping back up to where it was at the start of this year.

And the staggering wage bill of 263m, which will have increased quite dramatically this year with new deals galore and keira and Fabinho on multi million pound contracts, salahs wage doubling, mane doing the same , TAA etc.
Turnover was basically maximised last year, it could easily drop below 400m.

Even last year that 58% of turnover. With wages going up and turnover down we could see wages of over 300m next year (263m + keita 6m + fabinho 5m + allison 6m + 12monyjs of vvd instead of six 4m + new deal for mane 4m + new deal firmino 4m + new deal Robertson 3m + new deal other 5m? + signing on fees....)

We could a wage to turnover ration of over 80%.

It's no wonder Andy Hughes was being so cautious in his press remarks. He can see the storm ahead.

Not sure I agree with that first statement. Best example is Arsenal doing the RS in 89. Were they really better or were they seconds away from being the second best team?

42(then) or 38 now, team on top is always the best in the country and rightly deserve it. Blackburn were by the far the worse team I’ve seen lift the league but they deserved it because the results were consistent and that’s what matters

My downfall is I'm not an idiot?

I'm not bitter and twisted like most blues nowadays. I grew up with many reds, close friends. My son is a red and my uncles are reds. My brother and I are blues as are some of my aunts. I love the banter between us all. I can't lower myself by behaving like a scumbag.
I want Everton to do well. I want Liverpool to do badly. I can do that without behaving like a toenail. It's really that simple.
You see, its the passive aggressive back hand slaps and sweeping generalisations that get thrown in that make genuine Evertonians suspect bogus Blues. Its hardly covert either so you cant blame people sounding out hard faced imposters who haven't even got the acumen to camouflage themselves with any trace of intellect. Noone on here is a scumbag by the way ...as someone once said...."Fact".

Listening to the radio earlier, they were saying the RS have made world record profits, did I hear that right?

Aye but it isn't really as impressive as it sounds. Strip out freak player sales profits and they basically broke even.

The frustrating thing is that they seem to be carrying off some pretty heavy duty infrastructure improvements whilst at the same time improving their squad and are managing to do both without turning into an underlying financial basket case.

Sadly, it looks like they are going to be competitive for a good while yet.

That would be easier to swallow if we could pass it off as being the result of an owner with deep pockets. It's not nice seeing them so well run.

As I said on another thread, as soon as VAR is introduced watch the frankly ridiculous decisions fall away.

As soon as opposing teams have the platform to question the decisions on the field they will get nowhere near the wins or points tally they have this season. Think of both seasons they have been close to winning the league, past time they had Suarez cheating his way through the season getting every decision, every penalty - this season is exactly the same with Salah.

As soon as VAR comes in it 'should' all stop... Ending all hopes they have of lifting the Premier League.

Here's hoping.

Unfortunately in the long run you can basically reduce judging ability to compete consistently to the simple question of how much you can sustain in wages and transfer outlay compared to those you are competing against.

I don't like the answer to that question at present.

That literally makes no sense.

The one and only reason that Liverpool are top of the league now, is the same as the Suarez 13/14 season. They cheated their way to 'almost' winning it - real class showed through in the end with City winning it, which is what will happen this year I'm sure.

The only reason it's gotten this far is the complicit media, with only a handful of pundits brave enough to go against the grain - it took 6 penalties through diving for someone to question whether Salah dives or not. As soon as the opposing teams have the benefit of a 'rewind' so to speak, our affable neighbours luck will run out.
