Seeing as literally everything went for them until the turn of the year - dodgy penalty calls, diving players not being cautioned, own goals, soft goals, no injuries at all to key players, goalkeepers throwing the ball into their own nets - it's a welcome change for them to start seeing a bit of bad luck such as when Stones megged Salah on the line with the ball 1cm away from being completely in, Shaqiri hitting the bar instead of it flying in like it would probably have two weeks ago, Lovren picking up an injury. Long may that continue. There may be hope yet.

No team could ever carry on the luck they had in the first half of the season. Hopefully it continues to even itself out and we have belaying articles by the start of March from the echo about the worlds unluckiest team once again.

They do mate, I know a lot of match going scouse lads who've seen them when they did sit at the top table and speak a lot of sense when talking about what winning leagues involves who are absolutely fuming about it.

But they do care, a lot. Not all of them are the laughable self-loathing mess that we associate with Liverpool fc. The Scouse ones among them (who hardly ever go the game) are fumming. They had all the momentum in the world, now they're out of the cup, have a difficult champions league tie coming up, the gap at the top has been slashed and they've suffered two losses on the bounce.

A large portion of their match-going fans, the ones who are there with their ipads taking videos of appalling opposition players such as DeAndre Yedlin taking throw-ins, won't even realise that the defeat yesterday means they are out of cup. They'll be safely back in Oslo or Copenhagen with their hand baggage filled to the brim with LFC memorabilia; scarves, pin badges, branded mini footballs, Adam Lallana action figures, etc.

......I know it’s how the Echo report, but it really grates how even their Manager calls players by their nicknames in interview; “Mo”, “Hendo”, “Robbo”.

Bit like that other managerial genius, Steve McLaren, waffling on about Stevie G when he was England manager.

Loved that, especially the OG by our beloved Emlyn. I've written about Dougan before but John Richards was also a fine player. Excellent finisher and very sharp on the turn - we could do with someone like him now! Some other good players in that Wolves team too, McCalliog, Wagstaffe, Sunderland.

That’s the bit that that’s being lost in amongst all this ‘it doesn’t matter lads, i’d have taken 4 points lead etc.’ With just a bit of better management from Klopp they could be sat here unbeaten, on a 7-10 point lead at the top of the table with a piss easy home draw for the 4th round. So they can say they don’t care all they want. They’ll probably say the same when Bayern dump them out ‘bigger fish to fry lad’. But with every loss you lose the aura a bit more and pressure increases on the comps you’ve got left. The likes of Salah and Van Dijk (given the ego maniacs they both are) will not want to be watching trophies being handed out at the business end of competitions they’ve barely been involved in. He has to deliver the prem or the whole house of cards will fall down.
