Nevr mind all these millions of taxes which rich people aren't paying, the real problem is people on £56 quid a week looking for work.

Jesus, you people have forgotten the golden rule of political economics: it's always the poor people's fault.

Just to add some balance, while some rich people undoubtably avoid paying tax, the top 10% of earners contribute 55% of all tax income, which allows 'poor people' to claim out of work benefits.

Yeah, you're right. Apologies. Was looking at the wrong figures.

The top 10% have 53% of the welath and pay 55% of the taxes.

Seeing as we don't tax wealth, it's probably fairer to look at income when it comes to taxation. The top 10% contribute 55% of all income tax but earn just 33% of all income.

Either way, they allow us to afford an NHS and a welfare state - so while many deserve to be vilified for avoiding taxes, the vast majority pay their fare share.

The telling difference is that we can't just live off our interest while 'they' can quite comfortably.

Indeed. Thats a fortunate (or unfortunate depending on your politics) consequence of freedom (to an extent).

I just would like to see accountability. Common Sense. Naturally i would like to be Rich so I will complain the other way when I get to my Florida Tax Haven, but as for now, Tax the Bast@rds!

I would also like to see common sense. I'd like to see anybody earning minimum wage get taken out of taxation altogether, if they get to keep more of their own money, they're more likely to climb the 'social ladder'.

The debate about taxes in this country is puzzling, instead of talking about helping those who earn little, we concentrate on penalising those who earn more. Weird.
