2023/24 Dwight McNeil

I think he's abysmal on the ball and find him one of the least composed players in the side.

He gets another assist, quality assist btw but apart from that I just keep seeing the same thing over and over which is a player so slow in reacting to any pass, loose ball, challenge to be made, slow with the ball, gets rid as soon as he can, bottles out of any 50/50

The inability to just lay a simple 5 yard pass with his right means his body position is constantly wrong.

I know others love him so I'm in the minority but he's bang average at best. Shows you how far we've fallen when we're banking on a player like him to turn in match winning performances
Every time he turns backwards and dribbles 45 yards towards his own goal when he could just make a safe 5 yard pass with his right foot just makes me want to scream.
He can strike the ball extremely well with his left foot and he does make effort in defense. That's about it.

He gets assists and goals (not many of them) because so much of our attacking play goes through him. I think him both him and Harrison are well off where we are aspiring to be.

Dreadful again
He's definitely more Iwobi (one rather short purple patch in his entire time at Everton) than Pienaar (very reliable over his entire Everton career).

For me McNeil, like Harrison, has been absolutely abysmal this season, reminiscent of his initial 3/4 of a season with us when many were suggesting he could be one our worst signings ever.

Honestly what good is a one-footed winger that cannot break into a sprint?

I do t think he’s been abysmal. He has gained us a lot of points recently.

He’s got 7-8 goals a season in him which sadly, is very good for one of our players.

The truth is that him, Harrison, doucs, DCL and onnana are slow in possession, can’t pick a pass, have terrible vision and cannot play 2 touch footy never mind 1 touch.

This makes us slow, predictable and constantly without the ball as they’re all so bad in possession.

You could carry one player like that, in fact Richy was like that… but you can’t have 3-4 players on the starting 11 like that and expect to be good over a sustained period of time

Sounds like a top man, especially with him still being quite young.

Still a crap footballer though (only joking, well half joking).

He's obviously put himself forward to be selected when his mind might have been on other things, so fair play to him for that. Though Dyche has certainly had enough opportunities to take him out just for a breather as he's looked like he's been running on empty for a while imo.

Hope his missus makes a swift recovery and they both have a much more positive 2024
