Dry Cleaners problem. Anyone had this before?

Hi Ralphy mate,

Please don't get me wrong, its just that I have seen this so many times over so many years and it invariably ends up the same way. You get your letter sent. The dry cleaner will reply with a solicitors letter, or cash! Mostly a solicitors letter. You then have to decide to tackle it alone or get your solicitor involved. Both sides will have to prove allegations. It will be cheaper to buy a new suit than go too far with litigation.

Seriously, do what you have to do. Bad press will hurt the dry cleaner more....

It would help to see the holes. I have a good mate who is a member of the UK cleaners assoc. Will have a word.

PM me details if you want.....

Cheers mate, they still have the suit. I refused to pay for them cleaning it and said I’d wait and see what their tailor said. The manager wasn’t there when I went back, just the women and they can’t talk without shouting and getting aggressive to be honest. No point getting into a public slanging match with people who can’t make the decision anyway. So they still have it, it's not ina condition to be worn now anyway. I need to write the letter up today and send it off.

I just want my suit in a condition that I feel comfortable wearing it, if it can’t be fixed then obviously I want a new one. I’m not really one for hurting for the sake of hurting, but if no suitable resolution is agreed upon, then I will take it further and will go down the negative press route as well. I’ve stopped myself from giving them any bad reviews etc. so far, as I want to give them the chance to correct it. My only previous experience with local press is through football, and I’m not sure how much I want to be in the paper for something else, but if it comes to it then I will. As per the post here, maybe I’m not the only person this has happened to.

Well, this is interesting.....heres what happened to me.

Have 2 suits with 2 pairs of trousers for each....

Took 3 pairs of trousers to dry cleaners.....didn't wear for 2 weeks after they came back....then found that the material felt different and they didn't feel right....

Compared to other pair of trousers and they had shrunk and texture was different -- so they had washed them.

Complained and they were really rude to my girlfriend....told management in my condo (as laundry is in condo) and they agreed they were damaged, contacted staff who admitted they were damaged and also owner who said she would refund the cost.

I got the price from my tailor and sent to the owner....now they are refusing to pay,

Did she tell him that she models for FHM? Well she should next time mate.

Have you checked your undies for signs of this crotch rot?. It is very contagious. Best to wear MC hammer pantaloons from now on.

You don't need a solicitor to go to the small claims court, and the defendant would be mental to instruct one as the solicitor's fees are seldom transferred to the claimant even if he was to lose. There is no great burden of proof, and it all comes down to who the judge feels is telling the truth. Although you will need the basics, like the suit itself and a receipt if you have one.

I advise the OP to go to the small claims court, just make it look like you exhausted all other avenues but they still continued to be unreasonable, so you had no other option but to take them to the small claims court. You will most likely win, IMO.
