I wonder, does @davek drive?

Please try the route between Bors (Hungarian border) and Cluj in the Northwest. In my part of Europe, right of way goes to whoever has the more expensive BMW or Mercedes. Bonus points for them if it's a BMW or Merc SUV.
I do my best to let people in and expect the same or similar treatment when available (as sometimes you can't obvs) - no point to be a knobhead. A few days ago I had to merge so I'm out of the turning lane and we stopped at a red light, the knobhead in the other car almost rammed straight into my front wheels when the traffic light turned green as I hadn't fully merged due to, well, red light, then shouted at me for about 10 sec. I had the indicator on for a solid 30 sec while it was red and he was looking at me doing the maneuver
I don't get some people. Romanians are equally as fantastic as ours for going 20-75kmh above the speed limit and driving like they have absolutely nothing to lose in this life or the next.
Utterly horrendous.DearGrandoldteamGrandoldtour.com,
Thoughts on contemporary driving standards? Getting better? Worse?
I have noticed a trend where road users drive way below the speed limit. 20 in a 30 in good conditions, no hazards. Some may argue reducing speed is no bad thing, however I would have had matks against on my driving test for 'failing to progress'.
Thoughts my fellow James May and Clarksons?
Yeah, big fan of the m1 and m5 for the poor lan discipline. Significant portions are 4 lane (with hard shoulder). No one knows what lane to get in.Utterly horrendous.
I went down the M4 towards the M25 2 days ago - in a fast lane sat a white van doing a steady 65mph absolutely not bothered about hogging the lane, with nothing inside him. A line of angry BMW drivers lined up on his bumper, eventually gaving to undertake him. I did too, eventually, but only on the very inside lane.
Every journey i end up behind someone doing at least 20mph lower than whatever the speed limit is, despite good conditions etc. Not helped that modern cars over-read their speed by at least 5mph at 70.
Journeys I remember taking 1 ½ hours, 20 years ago, now regularly take over 2 hours.
People can't park either. Was stuck behind a car in our high street last week, that was double parked .... against an empty space.... some bint decided it was too much effort to squeeze their SUV into a perfectly big enough space, so just parked next to it ffs.
So YES, plenty of evidence that driving is worse.
So undertake then get in front of him and slow down to 60. Make him try it in return, and get in his way. The only way to wake these twits* up is by inconveniencing them. I'm not on the side of the road owning bmw convoy btw.Utterly horrendous.

Fortunately, I KNOW I'm a good driver.…I find people who think they’re good drivers are the worst.
'Kin ingratesPeople who don't give me a little wave when I give way are the worst.

On my walk to the station in the morning I walk up a long road that always has a decent queue at some traffic lights. It's astounding the number of times I've seen the lights go green, traffic move but one person staring at their phone hasn't realised and hasn't moved - nothing in front of them, angry queue behind them. The only standard on the road is that there are none. When I travel now I get chance to watch others, the sheer number of people using their phone at the wheel is frankly outrageous, it's not one or two, it's the majority.
12 points is a ban. iirc you lose a point per year. once the ban is up I believe the licence is clean, but I don't know if any extra points stay on?On my walk to the station in the morning I walk up a long road that always has a decent queue at some traffic lights. Apparently it's called 'the WhatsApp gap'.
Anyway, I was at the pub with a couple of mates last week - both Millwall fans, the poor sods - and apparently there's a bloke who's going around the area photographing drivers on their phones at lights and giving the info to the police. He'd snapped one of my mates and he'd been done by the police for it. 17 points on his licence - Christ knows how you rack up that kind of figure. But both mates thought it was disgusting what this phantom photographer was doing. I kept my mouth shut.
Exceptional hardship mitigation. Especially if you have to drive for your job - builder for e.g.12 points is a ban. iirc you lose a point per year. once the ban is up I believe the licence is clean, but I don't know if any extra points stay on?
I'm on the phantoms side, so long as he or she isn't trying to blackmail anyone. Thing is, as the story from earlier in the week, eventually someone takes matters into the own fists, or in the case I alluded to, under the wheels..
Yep this.20 in a 30 zone. Absolutely clear both ways so I overtake and they speed up. What you doing? Did you just realise that you were dawdling because you weren't paying attention? Speed up after being passed then ya dope.
Also there seems to be some problem with hybrids slowly accelerating almost as if the driver are giving maximum attention to their economy rather than the growing queue of frustrated motorist behind them.
Also yesterday there were 2 incidences with emergency vehicles coming from the other direction whilst I was at the traffic lights. So I stopped like you're supposed to as did the people from the other direction allowing the ambulances go through the lights on the wrong side of the road without being hindered. But both times the car in the left hand side on my direction just drove off causing the ambulance to have to come to a halt. Again lack of care and attention to what's going on is my guess.
Yep, rant over.
