Anyone that passes a test is not a brilliant driver. they are just brilliant at passing a test. It is a fundamental fact that new drivers are not taught how to drive, they are taught how to pass a test.

On the same note, overly slow drivers need to be re-educated as they are not up to pace with modern machines and I am sure that not many could even explain what ABS means and what it actually is there for(for example), I doubt many new drivers could either to be honest.

Myself, like Blue Ray are HGV drivers, and we see from a birds eye view exactly how appalling the standards of driving are out there. I am not saying that I am a good driver, but if passing a test makes you a [Poor language removed] brilliant driver, then I must be The God of all road machines.

I have HGV, ADR, Agricultural, Tracked vehicle, Motorbike, and plant machinery on my licence. I have also done both the police and the British Forces advanced courses and their escape and evasion course. That does not make me a good driver, it makes me an educated one.

The Scandinavians do it the proper way by teaching over steer, under steer, diverse conditions. They are taught how to actually drive. We in theis country are only taught how to pass a shitty pointless, non comprehensive test.

Basically, I understand why some people get upset with others, I just don't agree with their stances.

I shouldnt really rise the bait on with these comments but I do think that you've made a bit of a sweeping statement there. That's like saying that all men are criminals because 96% of violent crime is commited by males.
All men are not criminals and not all women are bad drivers.
You must just come across some that are less competent than you perhaps?

My experiences of driving both professionally for 5 years (as a bus driver) and for business etc for a total of 35 years, as a member of the IAM and no collisions in all of that time - or indeed any points, fines, whatever on my license would perhaps suggest that my driving skills are of a relatively high level.
Incidentally, my driving undergoes an assesment each year by a class 1 police driving instructor and so far I have not failed.

Besides me, there are thousands of women who are members of the IAM, who are class 1 police drivers, ambulance drivers, professional drivers in any number of roles in the community. To imply that each and every women is genetically engineered to be a bad driver is not really appropriate.

well HB, by your reckoning, simply because I'm female, I cause crashes and collisions just by getting behind the wheel of my vehicle and driving.
Forgive me for taking the hump at that sort of reasoning, surely you can't really believe that EVERY WOMAN is unfit to drive?

I would be happy to invite you to spend the day with me in my place of work just to fill you in with all the details you want to question your theory, I'm a Road Safety Engineer and for the last 23 years of my professional career I have been trying to stop people going out to kill or seriously injure themselves and others and trying to understand why people behave the way they do when they get into their cars.

I will always bow down to other peoples' superior knowledge and understanding of football, IT, mechanics or whatever your profession may be but on road safety matters I will stand my ground because it is what I do and I am confident that mine and my colleagues actions will have saved lives.

Your perception is that all women are bad drivers, Cal thinks all old gits are bad drivers and so on , we all have our opinions but the important thing is that we all get home safely, we all drive defensively and that our loved ones never have to lose us to some stupid, avoidable collision between two lumps of cold metal.
The last thing anyone wants to see on here is a thread that titled 'Anyone heard from (insert name)?'

Anyone over 60 should have to take their test again imo (no offence and that).

Come on, 30 in a 50 is not illegal. Yeah its annoying, but they don't kill anyone doing that speed in a 50 zone. Its the knobheads doing 110 in a 50 who are the knobs, and they don't usually die, they kill some innocent good person.
