Could have been any number of things that broke on the truck that would cause that.

lol nah i just thought id make an overly dramatic thread title

his brakes failed and thus he chose to take this route in an attempt to minimise impact,he ended up falling 15 feet onto an access road below, broke 2 legs and an arm but is otherwise ok.
