Dr David France

dr france is a true blue hero.

perhaps "PienaarsCornRows" could advise us how much money the club have been "black-mailed" into paying to dr france.

As i said you can believe what you want, i believe he had no intention of ever selling to anyone else despite what the rumours of other bidders suggest. We were the only serious bidders for the whole 'collection'
As for the EFPf, to say he was the sole reason it existed is just silly, it was also inspired by granchester (Only decent thing he has done for the club) and Jon Woods (Everton director)

If you don't personally know anything about Granchester don't comment. I do and I won't expose my knowledge to make your comments look asinine and irrelevant. I won't go public on this - here or anywhere else - but Granchester remains a true Blue ally to have on our side - so don't even try to hound him out. One day, when the knowledge (which I know) becomes obvious you'll know exactly what I mean - but until then I'll just keep my peace.

I dont like anyone who tries to make money out of Everton, i am old fashioned like that

you must obviously have no idea about how much time and especially money he had invested in the first place to collect, collate and organise those artifacts then, do you? He has done a fantastic job for Everton.

i disagree with pienaarscornrows too, but he's entitled to his opinion. i personally haven't met France, and i don't know who else here has, so its not like anyone here can truly speak to his intentions, though i will say the way he's behaved has indicated he's nothing more than a loyal fan of the club.

did he actually profit off selling the collection to the club? how much did it cost him to assemble it?

Sorry cant accept that TD, here is a guy who could propel us up the finance league but wont do anything without his ma's say so. The man is a disgrace to the Everton name and that of the Moores family

Well having read thru that article i would imagine a fair bit, eg -

"He'd borrowed £1,000 but owed £4,500 so I rang the money men and they came round, three of them like something out of Reservoir Dogs complete with the Liverpool shuffle. They had Gordon's medals - which he'd given as collateral - in a plastic bag which they tossed on the floor with a sneer. After Gordon had seen them to the door he said, 'You've changed my life, I can live again now'.

"I never haggle over the price. I pay people exactly what the item or items would fetch at Christie's or Sotheby's so I left Gordon with his debt paid and a few quid in the bank."

I think he wanted to sell it for cost price to Everton (i.e. how much it had cost him over the years; 800k).

Bare in mind the club at one stage had discarded most of it (ledgers, old accounts, player contracts etc.)

I've heard that one time there was a skip outside GP full of stuff like that and fans raided it, even David Unsworth was routing through it! :D

Lord Grantchester donated 200k

It's just a shame that it's in the Liverpool Records Office and not on public display.

yeh, i knew it was him - he's using the same id on bk. i just can't keep up with his different usernames & the frequency with which he gets banned.
