He had no intention of selling them to any other person, thats something you dont get. He dangled a carrot in front of Evertons noses and then laid on the guilt. Naive people like you took it in.
I havent answered your question for one reason lad, i dont need to justify my evertonian credentials, you may do but i dont

Holding Everton to ransom shows disrespect to the club mate but i dont see this fella showing respect so he isnt getting it in return

He had no intention of selling the collection to anyone but the club because he wanted the items detailing the clubs history to stay at the club. Is that such a bad thing? He could have easily sold it to some random billionaire based thousands of miles away who quite fancies having "The largest single collection of any sporting team" or whatever the experts defined it as, despite not having any interest in Everton or football in general.

It could have been carted off abroad & never seen by a bluenose again, at the minute it's being kept by the club until it can be displayed properly. He could have also split it & sold all the bits across the globe to the highest bidders of any particular item. He'd have made an absolute fortune doing that but instead he sold it to the club for next to nothing.

It's hardly "dangling a carrot" or "holding the club to ransom" is it?

I know you're just a knobhead on a wind-up but slating David France is disprespectful so save the wind-ups for some other thread

Your contradicting yourself there mate and i aint winding anyone up. You have your opinion of this fella, i have mine

All that time, effort & expense, & for what? So that Everton Football Club can have the proper collection of history that the club should have had in the 1st place.

Agree with yr comments on France, but thats a bit unfair on the club. How many other clubs managed to keep hold of the kind of early documentation that France collected - as opposed to buying it back later from collectors?

Just point out where I've contradicted myself for me

You've gone on about how bad David France for making money out of Everton when he's giving the club something of huge value when he could have made a lot more by selling it elsewhere. He offered the club 1st option, we could have easily said "Sorry, we're not interested, sell it to someone else" but he gave us 1st option, gave us ages to find the money & lost a hell of a lot in doing so, just so it could go to the right place.

I just can't believe anyone is stupid enough to honestly believe what he's done is a bad thing for Everton Football Club & Evertonians in general. I know you're on a wind-up whether you admit it or not

Maybe you're right, I have no idea what sort of records other clubs keep. I'm just thankful that there was someone with the funds, dedication & ability to create the sort of collection we all want to see

Big contradiction there, he was never going to sell it another bidder and used this leverage as a way of getting Everton to pay more than they wanted to
As for me on a wind up, if thats what gets you through the day mate then think that. I no catergorically that i am NOT on a wind up and this is EXACTLY what i think

Wrong, he got the collection valued before he offered it to the club, I think you'll find that's standard practice. He then gave the club 1st refusal at a hell of a lot less than it was worth. He could have made far more money by selling it elsewhere but didn't so the club would get it.

I just don't see how anyone can honestly believe he's done a bad thing for the club. But anyway, I'm getting bored of going over the same things as I'm sure you are so how about we agree to disagree?

Yes agree to disagree, we have sort of agreed that he was never going to sell to anyone else were just disagreeing on his reasons why

I honestly don't know either. But I do remember reading that France's collection is held as being pretty unique so I'm guessing not many.

So you think he only wanted to sell to the club so he could fleece it rather than selling in an auction where he would have gained more?

I think the unique thing is he has spent so much of his time and money collecting this that no-one else has. It's not like he bought the stuff off the club, rather he has traveled around the world to get all the items.

No, the unique aspect of the collection is the quality of the material it contains. And I never suggested he had bought the stuff off the club nor that he hadn't spent a lot of time collecting it. Please read what people post before criticising them for things they did not say.

Or you might try not to read critique in everything people write. There genuinely wasn't any critique in my comment.
