I knew the a***hole known as hbl would pop in.

At least you just proved beyond any doubt to anyone what a miserable little creature you are. You are just envious to someone who has both succeeded in life and done far more for the good cause Everton than you will ever manage.

What have you done for Everton and Evertonians? Other people on mentioned in that article, including the writer (Ian Mac) have spent a lot of their time and money for fellow Evertonians. You just spend your time mocking them/us.

Language my friend, its disgusting. Being an evertonian isnt just his reward is it? Its an incorrect statement. As for the other fella, i cant stand him. He is a poor mans Bill in the cringeworthy statements

Can't sit & read such a detailed article in work but I have nothing but respect for the man. While he did effectively sell the collection to the club, it was worth a hell of a lot more than he sold it for, if he'd have sold it at a specialist auction as a big lot he'd have made far, far more than he gave it to the club for. If he'd split it up he'd have made even more than that but he insisted it go to Everton because he felt that's where it should be.

The effort he put in over the years is a credit to the man, I remember a story of him cancelling something with his wife so he could drive across the country to an auction which had a tatty old England shirt that had been worn by an Everton player in a game. There are items in there that are the oldest known copies from other clubs (programmes for example) but because they're part of Everton's history he point blank refuses to sell to them.

All that time, effort & expense, & for what? So that Everton Football Club can have the proper collection of history that the club should have had in the 1st place. He's not a stupidly rich man & so it's not unreasonable to ask for a small fee for something so valuable that he put so much effort into accumulating. The man's a legend & by creating a collection of Everton history of such quality, he's written himself into part of it.

Yeah, but there's always the small people who envy anyone who actually manage to create something worthwhile. Instead of trying to do something of their own, they criticize people who have done that.

And of course Dr France has done so much more than just this.

Well, what have you done for Everton? You are obviously trying your hardest not to answer this simple question?

And as was said, if all he wanted was money he could have sold the collection through Southeby's and make double the money.

Obviously you don't have children, that's for sure (hint: France is dying and he does have kids).

He had no intention of selling them to any other person, thats something you dont get. He dangled a carrot in front of Evertons noses and then laid on the guilt. Naive people like you took it in.
I havent answered your question for one reason lad, i dont need to justify my evertonian credentials, you may do but i dont

I think arguing about a man such as Mr France on the internet smacks of disrespect both to the man himself and everyone at Everton . Show respect please

The collection wouldn't have needed to have been sold back to the club if Johnson hadn't gone on a fire sale spree of everything not nailed down in what resembled the last days of the Roman Empire.

"Allegedly".
