2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It seems to me as if negotiations are ongoing with Keane, Gueye and DCL.

We already know what is happening with all the other players at the end of their contract or on loan.
I feel that if any of the three had made a definite decision to leave we would probably know that by now as we did with Doucoure and Young.

I think the longer it goes without updates the more likely some or all are to stay.
Certainly understandable with Keane and Gueye.
Not so clear about DCL considering we have Beto and we know we want to sign Delap.

To quote firstly Meatloaf; 2 out 3 ain't bad
Then Anne Robinson; DCL, you are the weakest link - goodbye

If thats the case, then Keane & DCL need to be on reduced terms at least. I can see maybe Keane accepting that, but not DCL.

I heard he went to sign a new contract but dropped the pen and broke his big toe, and while wincing in agony did his Achilles and ACL.
I mean, I know comments like this are 'banter', and if you go against them then 'I bet you're a laugh at parties' comments roll out... But they're absolutely not funny in the slightest, have been said hundreds of times before and just make me glad that schools are back next week and you'll have homework to do instead of posting on here.

If we get Delap I can us selling Beto to try and recoup some of his fee with DCL being the backup.

Even in the limited time he's played under Moyes, I think even Moyes would be really concerned by his finishing.

He missed a great chance against Villa last minute in Moyes' first game back

Fluffed the 1v1 chance against Spurs when he completely miscontrolled it when clean through

Had a great chance to score against Fulham but hit it straight at Leno instead of trying to dink it over him

Had a great chance against Newcastle (well, 2 actually as he had time to slot the rebound)

That's a hell of a lot of chances missed in a short space of time.

Five decent matches in fifty or thereabouts.

Is it understandable though?

Is it really?

Can't go into the season with one healthy striker and no back up plan if Delap gets injured. Can't afford to carry DCL another season if we are looking to move up the table. Need a healthy and capable back up not a sick note.
Ideally yes but we likely don’t have the money to do all we need this summer. Beto has resale value after a decent season and this is why I think he’s the one to go if Delap comes in.
