2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Just one example. Some pretty grim Andrew Tate inspired stuff posted. All the usual misogynistic tropes. Honestly feels like we’re going backwards sometimes.
Jesus Christ I hate some of these nobheads that follow us.

Whether you think he's been good or not this is all far out of order.

She's going to support her fella and she doesn't play for us so nobody should even be thinking of her sending her any messages.

Absolutely mental stuff but these idiots are everywhere.

All feels rather grim, this.

I've said already that I'd happily keep him to rotate with whoever we bring in, and get a few bob for Beto while his stock is probably as high as it's gonna get.

Increasingly, though, I get the feeling he'll leave even though I am not sure he really wants to, or that the club want him to. Can't be sticking around with threats like that made to his missus and young'un, like.

We'll be left reliant on Beto, and I just don't think there's a realistic big step up out there for Dom. Best case scenario for him is probably taking Callum Wilson's speck at Newcastle.

All very weird - but to proactively have a dig at fans without prompt isn't ideal.

Any footballer in world football can find cranks/criticism directed at them/family.
I don't know what it is but between his Dad and his missus you'd think they'd just avoid the noise instead of engaging.

The reaction is bang out of order but you do get the feeling they were looking for it.

Tbf here, he was offered a contract and hasn't signed it. We know that much at least.

It was his decision not to sign and continue when that offer was made so the club did want him to continue at least on their part.

Looking for it? The example above is a series of DMs. They've every right to be annoyed when people are literally threatening their child/grandchild.

I hope whoever Liam is they're getting a knock on the door from the bizzies. Scumbag behavior.

Unfortunately we live in a world we're sad mouthy little twunts have a platform to troll and abuse people without much consequence....

Regardless of your opinions of his ability and effort you keep your words football related....

As much as it matters to us it is just a game at the end of the day, no one should get personal abuse and threats to that level

As far as I can see, Liam called her a helmet for having a pop at fans.

Someone else entirely, an anonymous profile - then sent the disgusting messages. I saw that Liam ref seeking legal counsel over it.

Maybe he wanted to stay.

Maybe some want him to leave.

Think it's time for him to go...... clearly the relationship between him / his family and the fans has deteriorated over the last couple of years!

Also, if it is true that he did not sign an initial offer, we should not be presenting him anything else unless it is at a 3rd of his current wages and as a back up player!

But I think it is the right time for him to leave!

If only there was a way to not receive messages from people you're not connected with. What a revolutionary feature that would be.

He didn't even @ him or her on Twitter in that helmet post, so she's clearly been looking out at what people say or someone has sent it to her. Which itself is bizarre behaviour.

What I mean is this isn't the first time you could speculate that they've been having a pop at the support.

Nothing justifies that response but it does feel a bit like poking the bear.

If I'd been getting pelters for months on end on social media I think I'd probably be a bit defensive too. I'm not sure what happens to people when they get the anonymity of online platforms but they lose all sense of civility. It's easy to say that people should turn the other cheek but if I was being constantly harassed then, sooner or later, I'd probably lose my wig.

Then my apologies to Liam. However, my original point stands, someone who is getting grief online shouldn't have to be stoic about it all because they happen to have a public profile. We should all feel empowered to stand up to bullies no matter what our personal circumstances are. The upshot of all of this is that the relationship between club and player is broken and, as such, it's best for all parties to move on and part ways.
