2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Doesn't make him 3rd BEST striker just means he has had plenty of games in that position. Think the Yak and Campbell off the top of my head.....even Cottee were far superior
But you said:

Yeah but any other decent striker would have reached that tally with 2 seasons to spare
Campbell played 90 games less than DCL for Everton. If we taken into account DCL played games out wide, at RB etc. we could say he played 2 season less. And he didn’t score more.

That said, I don’t disagree that both Yakubu and Campbell were better footballers than DCL, of course they were. But as people keep pointing out in this thread, strikers are measured on goals and he’s our third highest goals scorer in the PL.

The only point I’m making is that £for£, has been a great signing for Everton. Much better than lots of other big money signings we’ve made.

I think the criticism of DCL is over the top.

Most of it is based on his injury record, which he cant really control.

Its crazy.

I just hope our next number 9 is somebody we can ALL get behind, but I very much doubt it, we had Lukaku here and he got dogs abuse.

lol he played 45 minutes as right wing back once and people still go on about it.

He’s been a very mediocre Everton striker all in all.

He’s our third highest PL goal scorer and cost £1.5m. So if we’re judging him on goals he’s the third best striker of the PL era.

He’s a solid PL striker who’s suffered with injuries and playing in a crap team for the last few years.

I don’t think the season under Carlo was a fluke but actually just the only season he had a high level of service. He was also 23/24 that season, just entering his peak as a player. He only just started playing regularly as our N9 in the second half of Silva’s first season.

That form was then absolutely stalled by injuries problems and being forced back from injuries by Benitez and Lampard.

Yeah he does miss chances. He’s not world class. But in a decent side, he would average 12-15 goals a season in my opinion.

There are lots on here who rate Pedro at Brighton. He’s got far better team around him and is on course for 12 PL goals this season. It’s a solid number for an average prem striker.

I would be happy if he signed a new deal. I think Moyes would have scoring again next season. I think if he leaves, he will score goals at another side too.

Also, if he leaves, at £1.5m he’s been a very good signing for Everton. A player who’s a played in some of our worst sides and comes out the other end as our third highest PL goalscorer.
I think you’re judging him on his fee as opposed to his performances on the pitch. Yes for 1.5m it’s been great business, but ike I said strikers are judged by goals no matter what their level or fee. Kris Boyd was on about Hojlund yesterday. He said, yes he works, yes he harasses defenders and closed them down but ALL strikers are judged by the goals they score. I happen to think DCL leads the line, well and has a good touch. Do I think he’s the striker to take us where we want to go - No.

No it isn't it's based on watching him fluff his lines match after match for four years.

It's not crazy at all to not rate a striker who, while fully fit, managed to score 3 in 22 this season and 17 in 88 matches in the last four seasons.

A good touch? Your avin a laugh!

DCL.webp

Im sorry, but its a firm no from me..especially after the wages he apparently desires.
Im hoping he doesnt even feature this season as whats the point?
Beto and chermiti should get the 90 minutes between them, so Moyes goes into the summer knowing exactly where these 2 are at.

A decent centre forward who holds the ball up well but his injury record is a massive problem for me. Misses far too many games for another contract. I would rather take Beto as back up striker
