2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

There was a moment in the second half when he got the ball into feet and had two great runs either side of him to spring an attack that could have really hurt Brighton, but instead he took 3 or 4 touches and ended up sending the ball to a centre half.

The lack of goals is the main issue but his all round play other than winning a few headers is really bang average too.

There are so many people saying that Calvert Lewin should start and that he does other important things that people don't notice. But really, what does he do so well that it makes up for the goals he has not scored in 3 months? A bit of explaining please. He is 27 and Niasse is a better striker than him.

If all he can do is score tap ins from the six yard box then that's terrifying

A load of poachers goals but a few other sorts of goals too.

It's undeniable he's missing what presentable chances he gets, but, we did get better balls into the box that season. Quite often we lump balls into the box from before the 18yd line. Rarely do we get to the Byline or put balls in that are harder to defend. On current form he'd probably miss anyway, but it's a world of difference for any striker between that season and this.

Thought Beto did enough to earn start yesterday, problem is I can't see him shaking things up much either if he is selected from the off next week, what a hole we have dug ourselves 🙄

Not denying we were a better team, but we've scored twenty odd goals since he last bagged. We're not in a position to keep playing him because he wins headers IMO. It's not all his fault but he's a striker that doesn't score goals and misses chances in a team that doesn't score many goals. Something has to give.

Has a PL striker ever started 20 games and not scored?
Must be close to being a record.

I reckon if there is , they would be one of ours…. Bent? Madar?spencer? No Johnson? Brett angel? We have had some shockers mate… Maupay only scored 1 in 28 or something didn’t he?

Training ground football though wasn't it - Starting to think that he just can't play in a stadium full of people
