2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

He continues to play because of this;

And because Beto and Chermiti are the alternatives.

Beto.

Chermiti.

Got more into the game once Beto and Harrison came on but he should have buried one or both headers. Needs to stop coming out or going wide for the ball and stay in and around the box

People on here have tried telling me he’s better than:

Rasmus Hojlund
Darwin Nunez
Diogo Jota
Ivan Toney
Gabriel Jesus

Here are some players that have scored as many or more than him this season:

Cameron Archer
Elijah Adebayo
Carlton Morris
Neal Maupay
Chris Wood
Scott McTominay
Bobby Decordova-Reid
Lyle Foster
Oliver McBurnie
Jordan Ayew
Gabriel Magalhaes
Fabian Schar
Josh Brownhill
Marcos Senesi
Jack Hinshelwood
Cristian Romero
Alex Iwobi

I mean wouldn't any alternatives also propose a supposed change of approach, maybe?

There's more than 1 way to play ball.

Usually I'd say yes. We have an Everton number 9 about to go 20 games without a goal.

But I don't think Beto or Chermiti do any better - which says a lot.

Even if they got 2 or 3 goals in that time - if you're playing direct/long ball - you need a player who'll make it stick. Beto can't do that - I don't know why we signed him for the fee we did. I assumed he'd be of Calvert-Lewin's mould, he isn't. He needs balls played behind the backline and we haven't got that.
