Dominic Calvert-Lewin watch

Our fans were delighted with Beto's in the matchday thread too.
Yes, despite the fact that it was fine but they were angry at him not scoring so he gets blamed for everything.

He brought players into play and won us free kicks. If it was Dom who played like that today we'd just have read that he's unlucky but played a great hold up game to give us a chance for 60 minutes.

There's a massive double standard. If I'm a hypocrite about Beto so is everyone slating him who doggedly defended the turgid displays Dom turned in for the last four seasons where he never looked like scoring.

It's a problem now that Beto isn't scoring but plenty of the same jumping on him every week were extremely quiet when we saw Dom go 15 or 20 games without a goal.

And plenty who jump on Dom, like yourself, aren't jumping on Beto for the exact same things.

You're either WUMing, which is fine, or you're a massive hypocrite and your head isn't in top shape.

I think you are inventing an argument to make yourself angry.

The point everyone has said, is Everton are a difficult team to play centre forward for, especially pre Moyes. You seem to think Dyche/Lampards Everton were like Ac Milan circa 1990. Its obviously not true.

Your obsession with Calvert Lewis is just a bit odd. Obsessing over him is not going to change that he is our 3rd role scorer in the PL era, having played in some of the worst teams. Beto won't be replicating that, trust me.
No mate I've just gotten tired of the WUM game you've been playing by your own admittance.

It's probably a debate with little pay off. There are probably only 3-5 genuinely excellent strikers in the top flight and an assortment of wide forwards and number 10s/attacking mids who get goals.

Dom and Beto are just par for the course. Maybe it's because a as a club we love a number 9, but modern football needs goals from across the front line. We've been equally bad recruiting these sorts of players as well.

Beto has scored more in 12 months than we have had from an Everton striker for 5 years.

He deserves a bit of slack for that alone.

I am being a hypocrite here to expose the double standard we suffered through from the same posters who had no problems with DCL going 15 or 20 matches without scoring but can't even wait 45 minutes to shout about Beto being crap.

I mean he's scored about 8 goals on a year, playing for a Moyes team, with some excellent players around him.

He's done well, and had a purple patch, but it's not exactly peak Alan Shearer is it?

Beto also scored about 4 goals in 30 games for that manager. No strikers scored many goals for him.

Is it the most goals an Everton striker has scored in 12 months since Ancelotti or not?

I don't know. Maybe Richarlison scored more.

But I agree with you, which has always been my point re DCL and is also true of Beto. We are not a team it's easy to score lots of goals for.
Add Farke to the long list of managers who have failed to get Calvert Lewin scoring.

It's increasingly looking like his entire career was a purple patch under Ancelotti that he's lived off for five years since.

Well Farkes record in the PL is pretty woeful isn't it?

DCL also seemed to do quite well under Ferguson and Silva.

I mean, if you think Farke is this great attacking coach, we will have to agree to disagree. Same re Jack Harrison being a great provider.
