I have a 10 stone mastiff that is the softest thing I've ever owned. All she wants is a cuddle of everyone she meets.

Are you for or against so called “devil dogs” mate?

Im undecided myself, I do like dogs lots.

That’s a fair point.

I seen one debate where someone likened so-called “kid scranners” to owning guns in the states. Everyone has the right to firearms to the US but that is for a handgun which the person politely debating associated to a nice Scottish Terrier or sausage dog. The issue is the damage the large semi automatic rifles can cause which the person argued was like a Staffy or mastiff.

I hadn’t thought of it that way and have been rolling it round my head since.

I suspect your dog is prone to angry outbursts if their owners behaviour is anything to go by.

People who let their dogs loose off the lead anywhere where other people are likely to be need jailing. Regardless of how 'soft' or well trained the dog every single one of them can react badly when spooked by something.

And the assumption all is fine with letting their dog approach others.

Used to have a German Shepherd from a rescue centre and turned her from a nervous wreck into a loving family pet. Despite that she very obviously had issues with strangers and other dogs. Kept her on a lead at all times unless we were in a secure fenced area or somewhere where I could see a very long distance in all directions and purposefully out of areas and situations likely to stress her.

But the amount of bellends who'd let their dogs come running over to her when I had her on the lead was mindboggling.

I’ve seen it mentioned that it’s to counter insecurity and feelings of vulnerability, so a big angry dog makes them feel secure.

Unsure if that’s true or not, perhaps a large dog owner can confirm.

Weirdly obsessive owners who consider their dog to be their child should 100% be banned. Been bit about 3 times just to have some weird urine-smelling bell tell me “he/she’s just being friendly”

As a cat owner I can confirm this. I'm pretty confident it won't kill my kids though so I'm willing to put up with it.
