Does professional football attract idiots?

I have just read about Jeff Kendricks appearing in court in Dublin for beating the living daylights out of someone in the city two years ago. What is an international footballer doing fighting in the streets. It amazes me that these young men with so much to loose continuously put themselves in these situations.
Hendricks appears in the Cuicuit Court but was passed on to the County Court because that court can hand down move severe sentences.

Hendrick is an absolute tool doing that!! Hard to believe he's the same age as me and doing idiotic things, high profile profession keep yourself on the right side of the law and lay bloody low!! Career could well take a massive hit because of it

My question was "Does professional football attract idiots or does professional football turn nice young men into idiots"
Having been involved a lot around football back home - the nice young men who do play continue being nice outside the pitch, regardless of their game (e.g. Barry, Besic - that type; quiet, focused on football, not on random crap). The absolute knobheads are the majority though - inflated ego, holier-than-thou attitude in general, doing and saying stupid things most the time they breathe.

It's not the football, it's the untold riches and adulation they get.
But in my example and experience they get just about nothing in return, yet still have the same attitude and do the same stupid things, to the point saying you play/are a footballer or a coach is associated with you having half a brain before people even hear you say a word.
