All of the main parties will be doing a lot of electioneering in the coming months, both in the media and the flesh.

Will it change how you intend to vote in the upcoming election?

nope, which is why I shall ignore it all.

it's the middle England vote that they are all chasing, the housewives of the middle classes that can be swayed by the ' he's a nice man ' type thing.
Most of us on either side are entrenched in our political values, even working class trade unionists that make it big will mostly still stay 'true to their roots' so to speak, it's when people feel very betrayed by the party that they vote for that they switch.

If proportional representation was the deciding factor though, as opposed to seats, then the tories quite possibly may have never got in throughout history, due to there being a lot more working class than upper.

If the liberal party really sorted their shiz out then they would be the middle ground that people would take, as it would be easier to go to the middle than to cross the floor, per se.

Electioneering in the coming months, both in the media and the flesh will make no difference to if/how I vote. They choose not to talk to me the rest of the time, if any turn up on my doorstep with their fake smiles and bogus sincerity they'll get a good kick up the backside unless Mrs Whitebootman gets there first in which case heaven help them. As for what we are about to receive via the media I do not think anyone in their right mind would believe a word of the bullspin, lies, and statistics that their consultants and PC police would have us believe.

Meet the new boss, same as the old bass. Wake me up when it's all over.

*Sharpens pitchfork and waits for knock at door.

Last time our tory boy delivered a pamphlet i saw him coming, waited behind the door and as his fingers came through with the flyer I did my best jack russell impersonation and grabbed his fingers, he soiled his crombie.
gonna set up an ink squirting doorbell I think for his next visit.

Last time we had an alledged political type in our street the boy sent his gofers around first asking if we would be willing to speak with his unholiness. The fake couldn't even be bother to get out of his car unless an 'appointment' was set up. Man of the people our chap.

Dont know what party she is but if my local mp chloe smith knocked on my door lets just say theres a few things she could do to persuade me to vote for her. I saw her in asda once and nearly dropped my veggie sausage!

I know which way I'm going to vote. And it won't be for the party thats been in power for the past 13 years.

Plus Gordon Brown must think people are stupid. The lies and spin from them is unbelievable to say the least.

Yesterday's example of Brown is typical for the man who portrays himself as being full of "substance"... but he doesn't want to admit to himself what substance that is.

:dodgy:

NOW. If electioneering was anything like this... maybe it might have more impact?

What will secure your vote, Bruce? I suppose you'll be looking for progressive policies that dont impact on those struggling on 150,000 pa.

Someone would secure my vote if they promised to leave people alone as much as possible. It's interesting to note that in our poll at work asking which party had the most credibility, the 'none of them' option is clearly in the lead.

The system is broken.

That's precisely it...although I'm not referring to parliamentary democracy. There's an ideological vacuum at the moment; the market has been seen to have utterly failed, yet there's still a big 'disconnect' (as the Yanks say) between the public and statist solutions. That'll all change once the election's out of the way and the axeman cometh. 4M unemployed will concentrate the mind on finding alternative systems.

In Northern Ireland

Electioneering tends to be more on a tribal basis rather than a policy basis, apart from the middle ground parties, the two extreems (not left and right but unionist and nationalist). stick to their own areas where they know their support will be strong. The more centre the politics the party espouses, the more they will travel. The Conservative party is trying to get a foothold over here, I don't envy them, they will have a lot of prejudice to overcome. I can see a lot of botty being kicked if they canvass in the wrong areas.

Why don't the 'official monster raving looney party ' set up over here. They would get my vote and couldn't do any worse a job than has been done here so far. :o
