@NeroCeasar I forgot to mention i would rate Citys draw with Bayern Munich, as Corks greatest ever sporting achievement along with the all Ireland double of 1990.

People like Dave Barry represent Corks sporting greatness for me. He won two all Ireland senior medals in gaelic football, and a league title winners medal with Cork City in 1993. Do you have any interest in how Cork get on in GAA, or are you just an out and out Cork City FC man only?

The funny thing in Cork is that even amongst the GAA heads, you have people who are only into the hurling, and have no time for gaelic football at all!

When Dad's job moved us to Leeds, from Liverpool in 1951, I was fifteen and had just left school. When I was 16 I was signed by Leeds United to play in their Colts team. Raich Carter was manager then. So I gradually started supporting Leeds as well as Everton. When I returned after National Service they said they were not taking anyone over age 18, so I was 'over the hill' at 20!

When I was about 17 I played in an important cup game for Leeds United Colts. The pitch we played on was behind the main stand at Elland Road. The Colts manager told us that Raich Carter was going to give us a pre-match team talk. We all waited with bated breath. In he came, a very dapper man with silver hair and very smart clothes. He looked around and then he said 'I don't want to see any sliding tackles today, you play football on your feet not on your arse'. Then he was gone. Confused I was!

Raich Carter played for Cork Athletic as well. They are one of many of Corks league of Ireland teams, that went bust over the years! He played in Cork Athletics 1953 FAI Cup winning team.

None but I check the results of koln ,Feyenoord and Milan . I went to watch Bochum a few years ago and fell in love with the ground and the fans are boss. Went on the ale with a few after the game . I would definitely go back .

other teams I like to see do well are Napoli ,Boca, Betis , vallecano and Marseille.

but everton is enough misery for a life time . I couldn’t get too invested in another team.

Tbf to them, it's quite common that fans of Dutch and Belgian clubs sing 'that song'. Does my head in, but it's been viewed as a football song and not specifically RS related.

Half of Europe sing that song . I went to 5 games in Germany over 6 days and 3 grounds sung that song .Ajax are far more friendly with the shower from across the park.

I own some stock in Real Oviedo in Spain, "invested" in them when they raised capital in 2012 to stay alive. Been a soft spot ever since and a regular FM-team to manage, havent managed to see them live yet.
Another is Notts County, their financial troubles have struck a chord with me in expectation of thing to come. A great, traditional, today "smallish" club none the less...

Glad you posted that Corky. My memory! mind you, it was a long time ago. Raich Carter wasn't manager when I first signed up. The manager was a Major Buckley. Raich Carter came in a little later. My memory had him as manager in 1953 when I signed for Leeds. But he obviously couldn't have been if he was playing for Cork Athletic. My story about him is true though.

Everton have been my second team for 40 years. My first hubby was a Liverpool fan from Smethwick, he had a season ticket up the kop, January 1980 he went to a game and never returned home, phoned me on the night to say he had met a Scouse wench and wasn't coming home, never saw him again, that night I decided Everton would be my second team and followed them since.

Oh i know your story is true. He joined Cork Athletic in February 1953 on a short term contract. He only played the nine games for them.
