No not in my lifetime unless I get to about 100, but I was there when we had some success in the 80's so thanks for the memories

Sometimes spending large amounts of money will buy you the title, but sometimes it doesn't

Since 2004/05 season Manure have spent £542m & won the title 5 times (2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11, 2012–13) but Liverfool have spent more £599m & have not won it

United Liverpool
2014/15 £146m £117m
2013/14 £68m £49m
2012/13 £63m £49m
2011/12 £53m £56m
2010/11 £27m £80m
2009/10 £21m £36m
2008/09 £36m £39m
2007/08 £62m £70m
2006/07 £19m £28m
2005/06 £20m £35m
2004/05 £27m £40m

Total £542m £599m

Manchester City started spending daft money about 2007/08 but did not win their 1st title until 2011–12

Top 10 Teams Nett Spend 2003/04 - 2013/14 & titles won

Chelsea £924,009,000 (2 titles)
Manchester City £795,920,000 (2 titles)
Liverpool £608,180,000
Manchester United £593,450,000 (5 titles)
Tottenham £501,550,000
Arsenal £390,675,000 (1 title )
Aston Villa £245,250,000
Sunderland £230,010,000
Newcastle £225,900,000
Everton £192,550,500

So even if we get a Bill Gates worth $79.2 B or Carlos Slim worth $77.1 B, New stadium & buy loads of top players it doesn't guarantee anything

ffs I thought Abramovich was minted with $9.1 B but he's only the 12th richest person in Russia and the 137th richest person in the world

There are a record 1,826 billionaires in the world an increase of 181 in the past 12 months, with an aggregated net worth of $7.05 trillion, there's got to be a blue somewhere amongst them

wake me up in 2058 or before if we win it

Just found this. Reminded me of a time when it was possible for anyone to win the league. Obviously times have changed and it's depressing how many trophies and leagues have been won by other teams since, but we were that good once.
Hard to believe it's been over 30 years since the revival began. Can we do it again? I would have to say probably not in the present environment. I will never stop believing though.

Spot on with point 2.....2-3 seasons away I reckon. None of the other European leagues are competitive enough to make them interesting so the only option, other than a spending cap, is a breakaway league of all the big-money clubs and the franchises like the Shyte....at least we won't get panned in the derby

the only problem with a super league (for those teams involved) is that say you have a league of 10.

beyern
dortmund
milan
juve
barca
real
chelsea
man u
city
liverpool

they all cant win it...... these teams fans are used to seeing there teams win.... can you imagine if barca finished 5th? or man u bottom?

its for this reason that i cant see it happeneing

Funny this, but I sometimes get snapshots or flashbacks to what it feels like to win the league during other team's title run-ins.

For example, last year I really thought the momentum was swinging in the RS favour going into the last half a dozen games. The crowd and the players could sense it, and there seemed to be a real buzz of anticipation that their long wait was nearly over.

I think it was when they beat City at Anfield with about 4 games to go that it really reminded me of the excitement of our title challenges in the 80s. That specific feeling of needing to win, the sweating on other team's results, the feeling of nearly being on the verge of something is totally unlike anything else.

The feeling of being crowned champions is, for me, far superior and far more significant than winning a cup final.

There's something about it that's unique, and I want to feel it again before I pop my clogs.

I'd cut off my left knacker to see us win the league...
Me too mate.
Makes it worse when commentators said it was 14 years since our last trophy when we beat Watford in the cup final. Must have seemed like a lifetime to many but It's now 20 years and counting since we last got our hands on silverware. I just want us to break our duck and win something, anything will do. There's no excuse for us not to have won a thing since 95, but to win the league again with the present competion?......that would be something else.
I'd love the younger fans to feel like I felt, having the p155 ripped out of me in school for years then the smug satisfaction and delirium to see us top of the tree.
