I'm not sure if this happens a lot in the UK, but here in Aus, some high profile athletes have been accused of warble rousing, drunken assault of women, indecent exposure. While some of this are true... witnesses and all, a lot of made up.

One rugby league lost his life savings defending himself in court against allegation than he sexually assaulted an under-aged girl (17). He was proved to be innocent, but only after he's lost his sponsorship, his good name and his savings.

It happened to Tim Cahill on the once occasion he was home. He was accused of being drunkenly thrown of a pub. It upset him so much he wondered whether it was worth it to come home to Aus to play with the Socceroos.

I feel for some of the athletes. They are hostaged to their own fame.

I agree with BB.

They can't have it both ways. They shouldn't get mixed up in the seedy stuff.

Cahill was probably just too pissed.

All athletes and sports stars in the UK, are well behaved perfect citizens, and role models to the young and impressionable.
