Diving/Cheating, how do we stop it?

........I think it's a difficult one to manage in real time because players are so good at it. My recommendation is to have a panel who consider instances of it post-match. Culprits are named and shamed and build up points that lead to suspension. I'm convinced the naming and shaming would make players think twice.

"No contact"

Do people realise there doesn't have to be contact for a foul to be given?

Doesn't mean if there is contact betweeen two players that its a foul but just because a player has ended up on the ground with no contact doesn't mean they dived.

Like someone said earlier, a lot of the time the player who "dived" was advoiding contact and in doing so lost balance and ended up on the floor. Thats not a dive but you always get people saying it was cause there was no contact.

Seriously? How much European football do you watch mate? Our refs blow for every contact there is. The ref in Lille was awful but in general European refs are streets ahead of the idiots who ref PL games.
I watch Spanish football all the time and the refs are very whistle happy over any contact. Though to be honest they're probably not quite as bad as a few years back.

I know it isn't quite the cheating that the OP was about but for once think the Mail are right, it is about time the refs consistently punished defenders who grapple their opponents in the penalty box. Skrtel and Shawcross in particular do it every match I see them in.

Agreed, they need to sort this out. Also standing directly in front of the keeper is pretty annoying as well.
