Distin

Remember when we played Villa in 07-08 at home and Jags passed it back to Ashley Young in front of the St End?

I've never trusted him against Villa since, when we play them in a few weeks i'd play Stones & Dizzy

I'm just DYING to have an 'ITK WAR'

with Chicoazul mate.

I'm going to out prophecise him on the ITK and match predictions

Then show him his team selections are turbo gash.

Then quote stuff at him from the vaults.

That the one we won 2-0? With Yakubu doing runs from the halfway line and Heitinga pressing their centrebacks. I know everyone hates Moyes apparently now but some of the revisionism is atrocious. Many times against Liverpool we just had worse players. In the last few years there were times Moyes bottled it but there were times where he was let down by individual error and refereeing decisions. Remember had it not been for terrible refereeing we would have won 2 out of the last three at Anfield. Had it not been for Distin we could well have won the semi making it two knockout wins in a row. Ifs and buts but ultimately Martinez was let down by the same thing at Goodison. Bad defending. Had we switched on at set pieces Martinez would have a debut derby win and we'd be three points ahead. Yet no one says that Martinez made us sit back after we'd gone 3-2 up (which we did). Moyes could be playing the best football in the world yet someone would still call it hoofball. At times under Moyes our play was compared to Arsenals, we'd created the most chances in Europe yet if you listen to some it's like we had ten years of percentage long ball. Ridiculous

We went two up and let them have the ball, knowing they couldnt do anything with it because they were so very terrible.

I would much rather we had taken the opportunity to just absolutely smash them.

You're blaming a whole loss on 1 mistake, if Moyes went for it and didn't bottle we would of won

He's fantastic and a future Everton captain, but he's played 3 games. Distin has played half a season though and we have the best defensive record in the league.

That mistake cost a goal

I dont think Stones is ready yet, proven by that ball over the top against Norwich which, if there CF had a better touch would of probably saw us concede..

Actually, if we had won that game we would of made top4 and got loads more money and bought lotsa better players and won loads of trophies with them better players so that mistake cost us our best chance to win trophies.

Funny how you don't question Jags' mistake for the exact same reasoning you wouldn't play Distin

Its like rallying mate. Football managers

Should never take your foot off the gas.

Martinez doesn't

Derbies are different

Jesus wept, you as well?

So what if he made a mistake. Get over it, Distin has been sound all season.

We all know he isn't as comfortable on the ball as say Alcaraz, but there's a reason why we have such a good defensive record, especially over the last two years. It's because of him and Jags.

Not really. The Distin error is still fresh in the memory because of the how significant the game was. Are you telling me that you wouldn't feel a little tense if for example Howard played a short pass to Osman on the edge of the box with Saurez right behind him? It wouldn't remind you of an error that cost us recently?

No mate. Martinez, even after Osman's mistake on Boxing Day still insists on playing the ball from the back. I don't worry about mistakes. Bit like Moyes worrying Barkley would make mistakes whereas Martinez's first words almost where "I don't mind Ross making mistakes because he's too good"

If our manager doesn't let previous mistakes bother him then I won't either. Strange that you let it bother you though.

We were all angry, annoyed etc after that game, but I didn't instantly think that Distin cost us the game.

That was the last I thought of it, almost two years ago, yet you're still banging on about it.

If you were Stokes manager would you let Walters take a penalty? I wouldn't.
