Isn't it ironic that people are talking about the morality of the Gerrard chants the day Pancake gets arrested and is in the process of being sent back to Liverpool?
For anyone that does have kids, I would hope for their own sake you teach them as soon as you can that this world isn't the squeaky clean place filled with rainbows and chocolate sprinkles that people like Distin and Pienaar would have us believe, so they aren't crushed with disappointment when they find out things like Distin's milkman capers are commonplace in the world.
If we go back 20/30 years maybe more, we will find the match was a mans playground were after a long week of work they could come and let off steam. It was predominantly a male thing with a regular occurity of bringing your son when he got to a certain age. If you had a daughter it very rarely happened and you'd very rarely take your bird. It's different now, I see a lot of women going the match, especially to the aways, there's no prejudice or judgement, it's part of the new world. In a way, we all have to adapt our behaviour because I know one day I won't be ranting and raving at the game because I will take my niece who at the moment is 1 years old and I will have to behave in a more constructive manner, possibly leaving my routes of the GSE and finding a more suitable part of the ground.
I wouldn't like my niece to be around that kind of language because if I look at it from her perspective it could feel intimidating and quite scary.
Right now I'm a song starting, BAD mouthing, gesture making, cheering fan, that would soon change if I took my niece but it would be MY responsibility to look after her and keep her away from the rowdiness. I obviously couldn't blame the fans for using bad language etc because it would be my fault for going in a certain part of the ground.
Do Stubbsy use foul language much mate?
Some of us do take kids you know.
