Absolutely gobsmacked by this!
Do this search on Google. "life expectancy of black males"

White females have the longest life expectancy at 81.3 years, black females at 78 years, white males at 76.5 years and black males have the shortest at 71.8 years.

Does this surprise you or something?

I agree a lot of our younger players are now 18-20. That's the age they really should get and need first team experience plus a lot of them have been highly rated at youth level. We have Long, Grant, Green, Henen, Ledson, Garbutt, Browning and Galloway who still look like the have a chance of making it.

There's nothing like senior experience.

Martinez says that's the age group that need to be accelerating their progress - that they dont sit back and think they've 'made it'. I agree with that. But his preferred route to getting that experience is for the likes of Everton to be able to put a team out in the lower leagues. Well that isn't going to happen anytime soon, but he has has it within his control to cut to the chase and give them first team action. I was shocked he barely gave any youngster a game preseason barring McAleny and Long. Mind you, he had a poor preseason all told.

Ok, fair enough. But he's proven he can keep his balance now, so it's time to take the stabilisers off.

I really dont think we should be starting again with Hibbert when this lad Browning is there to turn to.

I was hoping for Hibbert to score with his first half chance at OT, allowing him to retire at halftime. I'm also eager to see Browning every week and I think we'll be seeing him regularly soon, although I'd rather see Coleman regularly. I don't think we saw Stones on a weekly basis until January last year, and hopefully Tyias will settle in just as quickly.

One does not simply just throw a league campaign after 7 games Friend, its just not acceptable, if we win every 1 of our remaining 31 games, we could win the league.
It's not 'throwing', it's a means to a greater end. It's next season we should be building for now.

If there's anything that history has shown us with Everton in recent years it's that if you dont get out of the gate early and amass a lot of points in the first couple of months you're just playing catch up for the rest of the season in order, ultimately, to secure a high league placing that may or may not get you into a European competition that'll knacker the team the following season.

I say plan now for a major assault on top four next season. Defo give it all we have this season, but with the objective of reaching the end of it with the prize of having established two new young first team players to go along with Stones and Browning. That seems to me a more worthy goal than getting a pat on the head for being 'plucky Everton...the fast finishing best of the rest team'. We still have the cups too.

Pre-season was a disaster. I think he might have wanted to do that but from the first game it was obvious the senior team needed so much work.

I'm not saying start 4 or 5 of them. But we could give say Green 10 mins at the end.

At the very least let them know what quality level they have to aspire to get to. It will stop them thinking that they've already made it and if they perform give them more minutes.

Oh Dave, you're talking absolute pap lad.

At this point last season we were only 3 points better off ffs, and we'd not had anything like the fixtures that we've had this time round.

Talk of building for next season after only 7 games of this one is utter drivel

Just seems obvious to me. I thought after Moyes left we'd see more game time for younger players. Fair enough, you can understand Roberto being political and choosing seasoned pros to work with in season one - those same pros can get you the sack if they dont get their way. But he's firmly in charge now, so bolder decisions on bringing new faces in holds no threat to him...or shouldn't. Maybe his slapping Distin back into line and going with Stones signals a change to that type of attitude. I hope so. As said, I'd far rather we ended this campaign with a clutch of young players established as part of an ever growing core of players who we realistically call 'first teamers' than to get to 6th/7th.

It's not just that points tally though is it? We are obviously a shambles in defence and we are short elsewhere. That wont be rectified quickly. To get anywhere near what we did last season would take a Herculean effort and a massive turnaround in fortune...and all our best players on the pitch from this point on rather than filling up the treatment room for the next few months.

Dont compare last season to this, they're chalk and cheese...and you know it.

After 3 games last season people were saying it was going to be a long transition period.

Things can change in the space of a couple of games and you know it.............

Judging a season after 7 games.

We have a series of utterly winnable games coming up David, within the next 5 league games we could easily propel ourselves up the league.

I cant see us losing a game now until mid March.
