Probably my favourite movie of all time. It just oozes brilliance from start to finish, and is superbly watchable to this day - a mental 30 years since it was shot.

Does anybody actually not like this film?

Harry Callahan: Well, when an adult male is chasing a female with intent to commit rape, I shoot the [Poor language removed]. That's my policy.
The Mayor: Intent? How did you establish that?
Harry Callahan: When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher's knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross!
[walks out of the room]
The Mayor: He's got a point.

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Gonzales: There is one question, Inspector Callahan: Why do they call you "Dirty Harry"?
De Georgio: Ah that's one thing about our Harry, doesn't play any favorites! Harry hates everybody: Limeys, Micks, Hebes, Fat Dagos, N******, Honkies, Chinks, you name it.
Gonzales: How does he feel about Mexicans?
De Georgio: Ask him.
Harry Callahan: Especially Spics.

^^

The movie is brilliant moment after brilliant moment. I'm watching it now and it's unbelievable to know it's 30 years old.

I always loved the 360 degree shot from the ropftop with the cool Lalo Schiffrin soundtrack.

Made me wee as a filmy.

I shot a .44 Magnum for fathers day here. The one I shot was well maintained, but horribly inaccurate, but a hoot to shoot!

Great character, made to measure for Eastwood. This interview scene from the Enforcer still gets a giggle. (specifically from 5:00 onward - the shetland pony bit)
