It isn't like we are signing them for their form or great records mate. All too old to be considered 'one for the future' as well.

So is it too off the mark to think we are signing these sorts of players in the hope they become good rather than them being good? Rodriguez didn't get near the first team so clearly martinez was hoping he would turn up at finch farm and score for fun for the reserves.

24 Goals in 89 games, and he plays as a wide forward, not a central striker.

He is the same age as Ross/Lukaku.

And is not expensive, and has plenty of caps.

Dunno if anyone's mentioned it but this guy is NOT a striker. He predominantly plays wide in a front 3 but had to move to ST this season because they changed formation. 1 in 3 from a winger is perfectly acceptable. He's more of a link up man for a main striker.

I for one - if the price quoted is correct - would like him in and he would help Lukaku out a lot like Kone did earlier on last season.
