Admirable: Michael Devereau is getting a Liverpool tattoo
A devout Everton supporter is going against every instinct in his body and getting a tattoo of Liverpool's crest.

However, there is a good reason behind Toffees fan Michael Devereau's decision to get inked: he's raising money for the cancer charity Balls to Cancer.

The 36-year-old, who already has 16 tattoos, is scheduled to take the plunge on his 37th birthday, which falls on February 25th, the Liverpool Echo report.

His regular tattoo artist has kindly offered to draw the Liverpool badge for free.

Michael, who works as a chef in Belfast, is supporting Balls to Cancer, the male cancer charity that aims to raise awareness of all male cancers and to educate young men about the dangers of testicular cancer.

Last year Michael, who is originally from the Isle of Man, raised £1,000 for the charity by getting the Balls to Cancer logo tattooed on his forearm.

When he heard that the charity’s funds were running low after the New Year, he asked his young son Charlie what the worst thing he could get tattooed would be.

Well aware of his dad’s love for Everton, Charlie said the Liverpool logo and Michael agreed.

Most of Michael’s friends are Liverpool fans, as the club has a huge fan base in Belfast, and the dad said they didn’t believe him when he first told them of his plans.

They’ve come round to it since however, and have pledged to donate generously.

Cancer is a subject close to Michael’s heart as his dad recently had a leukaemia scare and his father-in-law died from prostate cancer.

He said: “Everybody knows someone who’s had it. This is something that’s more important than football - people suffering from cancer need help.”

He added: “Everton and Liverpool have a friendly rivalry but we always back each other and I know the LFC fans will be supportive too.”

Susan Bates, co-founder of Balls to Cancer, said: “Michael is a fabulous supporter and is always planning ways to fundraise for us. It’s typical Michael-style to think of having a Liverpool tattoo as a massive Everton fan.

“His efforts mean we can help so many more fighters that desperately need us and for that we can’t thank him enough.”

wow, couldnt do this myself, we should raise enough so he doesnt have to do this
