Derek McGovern what an excuse of a journalist

I remember him getting grief of some fellas in the willow bank on smithdown for something he'd wrote, he just laughed it off an seemed a decent fella

He's always made it very publicly clear that he's a Red, and - when I read the Mirror, back in the day - did some very mild wind-ups in our direction, as well as a load of amiable but old-hat "my missus"-style gags. He'd occasionally jump on certain managers/players of the RS if there was a joke and/or bet in it.

Seriously, he's about the least offensive Red in the media I can think of. I wouldn't be getting bent out of shape by him.

Hear him on inplayradio everynow and then when I'm betting. Have to mute immediately, can't stand him.

He's a kopite! An unashamed kopite. He rips us because he's a red. He doesn't hide that fact, so you just have to roll with it.

If I had his job, I'd take the pee out of the kopites too. It's not like he is conveying an objective opinion - it's a light-hearted betting column, ffs.
You used objective opinion and journalist in the same post. FYI the two dont mix very well.

He is disgusting, this is what he said two years ago

Derek McGovern slagging off Everton again in his betting column saying his bet of the day is QPR at 7-1 to beat us. He said the below about us

Ben Haenow is the 2014 X Factor champion, he should take note that this is the high point of his career. Just like winning the FA Cup for Martinez at Wigan was, his career went downhill after leaving the respectable family club run by the lovable Dave Whelen to join the cesspit of Goodison with its horde of bitter supporters living in the shadow of the greatest team the world has ever seen. Led by Bill Kenwright whose greatest moment in life was acting to be a Liverpool supporter in the TV show " Liver Birds " for a brief moment he felt what it was like to be a winner.

Ben Haenow will follow in the footsteps of Steve Brookstein and disappear from our memories forever, just like Everton will from the Premier league this year. Get on QPR to beat Everton at 7-1, Arry will outsmart Roberto and stiffle the Everton team and the fans will turn on the players just like they did against Hull. Yes, a Hull team that has managed two shots on target in the last five games were unlucky to leave last time out at Goodison with just a point they should have taken all three.

Any opportunity he gets he slags off Everton pity we haven't. Got a so called mouthpiece in any papers

Are you kidding?

I would hate if there was an Evertonian equivalent of the bugger out there.

There is a reason boys like him write in rags like the Daily Mirror....they are fit for Sid all else.

.....his brother is Jimmy McGovern who wrote Hillsborough story. Without going into detail he's had his own problems in recent years, he loves to wind Blues up but I wouldn't take it to heart.

I never knew he was Jimmy McGovern's brother.
