If the club are trying to negotiate the arrangement now, they must think he can contribute.

They must be thinking he can play over those 7 games before the first instalment is due.

Why would Everton pay anything for him to play over 7 games this season, when they can just let his contract lapse.
To renegotiate the deal and pay a fee to Spurs, you would think we would have to intend to use Dele in significantly more than the 6 games, and the agreed fee would have to be significantly lower than the £10m clause.

Indeed - being my whole point.

Dyche/the club must see something in him otherwise they don't bother their arse sounding out that potential.

If Spurs say no - then I figure Everton could look to sign him on a free agent in the summer. I get why some are saying not to do that, but my point is if Everton are trying to negotiate a deal now, then they think he's worth it/able to perform so why wouldn't they think he's worth it in June?

If he cancelled his contract and he signed for.... Brighton or Brentford tomorrow. We'd all be saying watch him go and be incredible now.

….I imagine the club are trying to negotiate so they can have access to him, after all we are paying his wages. It doesn’t mean they are looking for anything more. I have serious doubts about his effectiveness, he’s hardly had a training session for Dyche to assess him.

a big if I know, but the dele from a few years ago is miles better than doucoure in that number 10 role or whatever you want to call it

I'd be amazed if the Spurs deal didn't have a provision in it which stopped us signing him as a free agent in the summer without paying them

Similar to the way City did this to us with the Gareth Barry deal

Apparently he’s back running on the grass now. so won’t be long

So the headline there, IMO, is Everton feel as though Dele can play in the Premier League.

Dyche has assessed him, and thinks he can get him playing.

I'm convinced if they thought he was a lost cause, they don't bother trying to renegotiate.

70% Dele is our best player.
50% Dele is our best number 10.

I'd be very surprised mate if they did - 3 year permanent deal followed by a free agent is a world away from City/Barry - that was a season loan in last year of his deal which dictated £2m if I remember right if we signed him.

Over 3 years there's no way they expected him to do less than 20 appearances to put that provision in. Even if they thought that could happen, they wouldnt expect Everton to want to sign a player on a free who didn't manage 20 appearances in 3 years.

…I imagine they ‘hope’ he can play in the PL and might have well have access to him if paying his mega-salary. The club will not waste any more monies on him, the latest in a long line of wasted £millions.

They already have access to him, 7 games for nothing.

Evidently, they're trying to renegotiate that, to allow more games, or less than £10m.

If they're doing that, now, then the assumption, IMO, is they think he isn't a lose cause and then they might "hope" to have "access" to him as a free agent, in June.
