2023/24 Dele

Surely the fact we’ve spent 3m all summer and pushed back all possible spending to future financial years makes it less likely we’d then turn round and pay 10m for 20 more games out of Dele?

Renegotiation is the only option.
I think it is £10M for six or seven more games and the only money we have spent on the players who came in was the £3M loan fee for Danjuma, the other fees are not payable until the next financial year, maybe the Spurs chairman will wave the £10M due if Dele plays the seven games until the next financial year, maybe not. Would anyone bet that Dele recovers his best form and fitness and plays for Everton again?

Yes, me.

Also, I see no reason why Spurs would wave any money and I honestly see no reason why they should.

I’m on Team Dele. There is going to be a simultaneous comeback story for him and the club. Hand in hand to glory. He is exactly what we need.

We need to get behind him and stop slagging him off. If he had done something bad to someone then fair enough but he’s a young lad struggling with a big weight on his shoulders. I can’t understand why we aren’t all rooting for him.
Me too. I would there to be a massive redemption story for him with us. I am fully rooting for him.

His BEST form? No, obviously that's very unlikely. it might even be unlikely (though more likely) that he gets back to a level of form that would make him useful to us (he wouldn't have to get anywhere near his best to be our best midfielder).

But either way I absolutely want him to get the chance.

As you say, he never has to get back to his best to be useful for us.

Even 10% of the player he was and hes head and shoulders our best player.

It’ll be quite clear to them, just as much as it us that if things don’t change we’ll not play him and he’ll end up going on loan elsewhere, prior to being released meaning they’ll see nothing.

He’s obviously nothing whatever here to justify spending the fee.

If they choose to renegotiate, maybe accept £5 million after 10 appearances, maybe defer the £10 million for to 2 instalments of £5 million over the next few seasons then there’s a very slight chance we may give him some game time. Then they may receive some money. He may even do well and they’ll receive any other payments that could be triggered as well however as things stand today Spurs will see nothing and they’ll know that.

Renegotiating suits everyone. Leaving it as it is means Spurs will get nothing, we’ll be paying someone a wage for nothing and Deli isn’t playing nor is he going to be considered to play.

Good on you then, I hope he does myself, wouldn’t bet on it though.

No I don’t see any reason why Spurs would wave the money even for another financial season I was pointing out the situation as it stands.

Yes the same as me, I was pointing out the financial circumstances of how the deal is at the moment if Dele was to come back and compete for the Blues. You certainly understand the situation we are in concerning our present central midfielders.

He’s obviously funny mouthing whatever here to make us want to play him.

Or, we play him and pay the money owed.

Because there's a decent chance that by sticking to the current terms, they are ensuring they receive nothing, rather than giving themselves a chance at (or even guaranteeing themselves) that £10m or some portion of it.

It doesn't seem that complicated?

But we won’t will we?

As much as we’d like to look at him we’re not going to spend more than treble the amount we’ve currently spent to rebuild our squad this summer on Deli with all the issues he’s been having.

We may see 3 or 4 appearances but he’s going to have to be unbelievable in that period for us to even think about spending anything on him.
