Absolutely. The problem is that for years our courts and legal system has mollycoddled these thieving sh*tbags.
They have no fear of the system so perhaps fear of being fair game would sh*t them up a bit.
The down side of this is that they would be more likely to take weapons with them if they thought they are likely to be attacked if discovered

Absolutely agree with previous, unfortunately todays system favours the human rights of criminals not victims. Far as i care if you invade someones private area (home or personal space) then you HAVE NO human rights. I'm talking murderers peads etc. I would be VERY happy to supoort any call for corporal/capital punishment. Would be young offenders might think twice about a mugging or robbery if they knew getting caught would result in a very public flogging. murderers and peads death. All this "re-halbilatation" costs the taxpayer millions and invariably doesnt work. Most ex-prisoners will tell you the biggest thing they learnt in jail was how to get away with more crime from the other cons.
What really makes my blood boil is when you watch these prison programmes and the vermin are kicking off because they havent got an Xbox in their cell?? or they have to "share" a cell??? WTF 23hrs in cramped cells, ****e food, hard labour maybe they wont be so eager to re offend.
W**KERS!!!!!!!!!!!
(and breathe)

Its such a grey area, but it really shouldn't be. You should be able to defend your property absolutely, but I do think you shouldn't just be able to murder someone if you find them in your home. You should be able to use force to defend yourself, and if a robber gets killed, I don't reckon you should be charged for it. I dunno I'd have to think about it, but this deffo needs smarter cats than us to fix it.

And as for Prisoners, every single one of them should be made to work hard, day in, day out for the terms of their sentences.

Likely you know how many of us gun toting Yanks feel about it...Colorado, the state in which I reside, has the "Make my Day" law where you're not going to be prosecuted for going all Dirty Harry on someone in your home. Critics might argue that it gives someone the "right" to indiscriminately shoot folks that mistakenly venture into your yard or house...but really it doesn't. It does, however, give you protection from prosecution in cases where you are afraid but make a mistake when the drunk neighbor kid comes through your front door re enacting a star wars light saber battle with a fence post.

You still would have to live with the fact that you shot him.

My "make my day" story:

2am, Saturday night. Its hot and meth isn't getting any cheaper. I have my windows open for breeze and I'm awaken in this normally quiet neighborhood by banging that I am sure is coming from the main floor.

Like many in Colorado, I have more guns than many civilized European countries. With the banging downstairs getting louder, I grab the 12 gauge shotgun and creep SEAL team six style down the stairs. I am, of course naked. More banging. Are they stealing my f'ing refridgerator? I get to the bottom of the stairs and this is it...I pump a shell into the Remington 870 and yell "I've got a gun!"

With my windows open, I can hear the tow truck driver who's adjusting the tow hooks on the car he's been pulling on the street in front of my house gasp an "Oh F***" and run to the cab, slamming the door behind him. I close the front window and slink back upstairs.

In retrospect...can there be anything more frightening to a robber in a strange house than the sound of a pump action shotgun chambering a round? Maybe only that sound plus the words "get on the ground and relax...i'm just going to put this ball gag on you"

Yep game on once they cross the threshold. Ridiculous that you could be arrested for attacking someone who is robbing your house.

Thats a normal Saturday night for many GOT posters.

Think there's been a discussion on here before about something similar. It's all about reasonable and excessive force. If you stab a burglar once, from the front, if you are in genuine fear of your life, then that can be deemed reasonable. If you repeatedly stab, that's where it becomes excessive. Also if they are running away and you stab them, or shoot them (a la Tony Martin) then that also can be deemed unnessessary and therefore excessive. I'm all for a persons right to defend there family and homes, and it is the burglars own risk, but I dont think murder equates to burglary and I dont think its every persons right to kill a burglar UNLESS there is a genuine threat of physical harm/ self defence.

And if you're suggesting we should bring back capital punishment for burglary then that's just insane.

Absolutely - I have a large(50Kilo) dog, armed with a full set of gnashers, and a bad attitude to intruders. If your would-be burglar gets past him (highly unlikely), then they have to face yours truly armed with an Ushba Alti titanium ice-ace.

Advantage Mutzo - new balls please!

Corporal not capital punishment mate. 100 lashes would make them think twice.
