2025/26 David Moyes

We were borrowing money off some dodgy fraud to try and help fund our payments, the same bloke that we nearly agreed to sell the club to.

I dont remember Bell and Downing put in an official bid that Moshiri was going to take.

TFG - atleast took us out of that mess.
They sorted our Stadium finish
They brought in Moyes
They got rid of Thellwell ( who nobody wanted here )
They gave us money to spend in the window
Although I hate stadium naming rights, they atleast kept it local.

Time will tell with them, but that doesn't look a bad start from where we were.
Bell and Downing bid, and another consortium put a bid in. Plus we had the guy from Palace. So Moshiri had options. No Moyes got rid of Thelwell, & effectively Purdy. TFG weren’t adverse to keeping Thelwell and wanted Purdy to stay. I think it’s pretty clear that Thelwell overall did a better job than Moyes has done in the recruitment of players.

Definitely a disconnect between manager and competent professionals here. However, in such a situation, realpolitik means the manager will take the hit if he can't make the best of what he has.

Frankly, if these were Moyes signings he's not getting the best out of them. If they weren't Moyes signings and he is benching them, then he's he's not the right manager for our competent professionals.

Whatever we think of Angus and co - not much would be my take - Moyes is on a hiding to nothing throwing his toys - such as Dibling - out of the pram.
Let’s be clear Kinnear and Hammond play no role in identifying suitable players! The two recruitment people who would (alongside Moyes) weren’t in place in the summer.

@Old Blue 2 forgive me chief, and I might be all over the show here, but it's a bit rich championing 'little fishies biting' when you're on a 6 consecutive reply run. This area is different from the other parts, it gets a lot more traffic and input from a much more diverse and less known element. Chill a bit?
6 consecutive replies 😲

And their was me thinking I was on a bad run last night..

I'm done with the TFG topic mate, god did i give myself a headache.

I've come to realise that I can't respond to more than 1 poster at a time without messing it up.

Hats off to Davek, Zat and BigI
Don't know how they do it..

In future I think I might have to use a call centre approach and put people in a queue, and call out numbers when ive survived the first debate..

We were 1-0 and playing well. The missed chance should be irrelevant. The far larger issue is the absolutely shocking performance for the final 60 minutes. I think we got into Sunderland final third about once during that period. That 60 minutes decided the result.

We had 2 shots on target all game, the first on 15 minutes and in the following 80 mins of footy we had one more shot on target. That is atrocious.

Not much improvement on last season after 10 games, he needs to start putting points on the board, and soon.

It’s now become a religious belief that you and others don’t believe Moyes signed those players. It defies all logic and reason. Moyes gets the DOF role booted and demands he has final say on all transfers. There’s literally no one else who could have authorised those transfers unless you’re saying Kinnear did it without Moyes agreement. Hammond’s role has nothing to do with identifying players and the other members of the transfer committee weren’t working for Everton in the summer.

Your looking at it in a simplistic way so it’s hard to engage. If you think Moyes said “go get me Dibbling” or “go get me Rohl” then I can’t get onboard with that. Does he get final say on what players come in well that might be so. But I bet his picks were different players and these ones were the clubs. But both of us don’t truly know. That’s the truth.

To be fair, it is a 33% points improvement - which is significant. That said, it's come at a cost of about €130m, so there is that...

Truth be told, Moyes is on the borderline here. Beat Fulham and he's pretty much par for the course after 11 games. Lose and Fulham leapfrog us and it really does start to look like Continuity Dyche.

Yep it’s completely fanciful that Moyes had been watching Aznou with any frequency for example.

We’ll have scouts suggesting players and we’ll have agents pushing players. Group conversations will then take place about overall transfer budgets and which players to approach.

I think the window turned out to be a bit of a mess, but to put it entirely on Moyes is a bit of a nonsense.
