2025/26 David Moyes

Nah, reactionary, not gonna call for a sacking because the manager gave game time to a few of his new summer signings and two fringe players. We've got a capable enough team and they weren't up for it tonight which is why they got hooked at halftime.

There’s actually been very few calls demanding for him to be sacked from what I can see, apart from a couple of one off angry posts after the whistle.

What there is much more of is discussion of his decision making tonight in the context of our trophy drought and bad record in this cup……plus the very normal frustration/anger at having seen it all before with Moyes.

As soon as they chose him they reduced greatly the chance of their appointment getting much tolerance for mistakes or patience versus other choices they might have made for their “new era”. I believe another half decent appointment would receive much more time from the majority of the fanbase. Although any of them would be getting pelters for picking that team tonight.

It was only predictable because of the way that Moyes has historically approached these competitions. The result itself was in no way entirely predictable because there was no good reason Moyes couldn't have picked and prepared a team to go and beat a poor Wolves team.
Can't defend Moyes for what he put out there tonight, who would. I feel like I'm repeating myself, but it's a slow build for this club, mistakes will be made, but progress is happening, and Moyes won't be the one to win us stuff, but he will get us into a position to be able to challenge. Dyche was a 16-20th spot manager, Moyes is a 6-15th manager at best, then we move onto bigger things. Patience.

This is why I'm not anymore than a bit annoyed about it. He most likely wasn't going to win the comp, he quite often does bottle the big matches, someone described Moyes as a comfy pair of slippers and I'm fine with that for a season whilst we rebuild our squad, get full backs and a striker and some quality depth to our bench and look for happier and successful days.
That's entirely up to you but don't expect everyone else to view it the same way.

Everybody knows that though, nobody thinks we should be the best team in Europe already, they’re just annoyed that we got knocked out of a cup and didn’t give ourselves the best chance of winning the game. Nobody needs a patronising explanation of the need to be patient, they’ve been patient for 30 years, people are just venting after a disappointing result.

It’s fine that you are happy with a stable season and don’t have much more expectations than that, it’s a very reasonable stance given the joke of a club we have been lately. I’m more or less that way too. However tonight multiple posters are just saying they wanted him to pick the best team to win and at least look like he made his best effort to progress, and I don’t know why it’s so difficult for others to accept that and leave the excuses aside for a night. None of the context of where we have been recently and where we are hopefully going will make me believe we couldn’t have picked close to our strongest team and try to win tonight

Why should we have patience with an ordinary manager like Moyes? Christ we had enough patience with the guy, he got 10 years out of us. Look at the Palace manager, he's hardly flush with cash but he managed to win the FA cup last season.
