2025/26 David Moyes

Moyes has taken plenty of top seven sides to those places in that time. Law of averages demand at least the odd win. To go as long as he has without a single win at these grounds is a disgrace and unworthy of a man of his competence.

This is my issue with Moyes. I always feel he knows his place.

He's better than that. This is a scar on his record.
I agree to a point but I think he/we were so unlucky in 08 and O9.

The Fiorentina game and the Chelsea cup final when we were missing Arteta,Jagielka and Yakubu could have been so different.

If he/we win one or both of those games it would have been a major breakthrough for him and I think he would have gained so much belief from that and his approach in games against top opposition.

Having said that, he is a miserable sod in his press conferences 😀

His last one in May 2013, we scored a perfectly fine goal but was disallowed.

Why would moyes sit in a press conference saying "we'll smash these 3 nil, these are overrated etc"

He'd just be pouring fuel on the fire for them and opening himself up for ridicule, he's playing their game

He will be saying something different to the players

No one is expecting him to come out with wild predictions. We can talk ourselves up, without doing them down.

For instance you can say it's going to be a difficult game against the champions, but we've improved and we want to see how well we can compete. Without going into the detail why they should win against us.

It sounds like Moyes was getting the excuses in early and if you do that everyone has got an out. It's basically why he has such a poor record away to these teams. Probability should mean we get one result where they have an off day, decisions don't go all their way etc. everything we hit flies in. Problem is we've been sending the team out scared for years, to defend for their lives and hope we win 0-0.

In a way I don't mind it for now as long as we are improving and picking up wins elsewhere. For David Moyes the manager, he has to start picking up results at the top clubs to elevate his standing in the game.

He's a very competent manager. But given this - and his respectable record of avoiding defeat more than not - surely he could turn one of those draws into a win. Until he does, there will always be a sense that he's solid as a rock but lacks that inspirational gamble that earns glory rather than obduracy. Basically, we are crying out for a touch of fantasy amidst the stolid competence. Enter Jack Grealish...

Should have won at Anfield that time we came back from a goal down and Beckford put us 2-1 up and then Howard just threw himself at a player going away from goal for no reason and gave a pen away. That was utter stupidity and cost Moyes his win there.

We had 0 points after 4 games last season so this is definitely a welcomed improvement in form
To be fair, I can’t see how having an actual Scotch egg acting as manager wouldn’t have improved on that points haul. The absolute dregs of football management, did well to manage the team in to the history books for the longest winless run though, it’s where the trade go.

Press conferences are just pay days for the media, they will always sound the same, praise the opposition and speak highly of the manager and then leave and wash their mouths out with soap, as most of the time they dont believe what their saying, it's just expected of them to say it..

Once the whistle blows is when it really matters..
