2024/25 David Moyes

We didn’t have enough belief in the final third. Alcaraz started and played some lovely balls and Doucoure and Harrison in particular didn’t have the talent or belief or both to make something happen. Beto worked is socks off fought every lost cause and was unlucky not to make himself a hero tonight. Chermeti should have had at least 20 minutes and Tim did ok when he came on.

Hopefully with Ndiaye back involved we can see the Southampton and Ipswich home games as the fitting Goodison send off and go back to breezing to 3-0 leads by half time.

My only worry now is side just clock off knowing they're safe and it's a 1 win in final 10 games kind of run so a little bit more caution will carry over to BMD.

Got a feeling there's a really good performance going to come out v Man. City as Moyes always had a great record v them at Goodison in his first spell and the Haaland problem has been eliminated.

That feels likely to me more than Arsenal as the last great Goodison win.

No win in 23 attempts at Anfield. You’d think the law of averages he’d at least get one. Bottles it there every time imo.
It's damning. He's too conservative. In mitigation, he has gone there as underdogs in almost all of those visits, but he's still not even got the odd fluke win - which does tell you something after this many attempts.

He's a good manager, but he's too risk averse in the big moments, as his subs showed tonight.

So they weren’t beatable tonight then? We didn’t have the best chances or best counters and shouldn’t have scored a couple of goals?

You play that game 20 times and we probably win it once. That's mostly down to the players rather than much the manager can do. Simple fact is we are miles away from them in nearly every position and it's demonstrated in the league position.

Losing to their kids in the cup just before lockdown remains the worst for me at the swamp in recent times.

League games always seem to go the same way, 0-0 up to half time and then they step it up second and can't pressure them like at Goodison. It is what it is.

Think it’s harsh blaming Moyes for tonight. We’ve had chances to take the lead, it unravelled after Harrison ballsed that breakaway up. Hopefully now we have players coming back from injury it’s the last we see of him and hopefully be the last we see of Doucoure as well.
