Total BS. We have been a complete disaster virtually everyone season he wasn’t in charge since the 90s. The only decent seasons without him were the Kanchelskis season and the Martinez season (and that one was 90% down to Moyes and 10% down to Chelsea giving us Lukaku). You really do enjoy making a fool of yourself.

Moyes is incapable of it.

Exactly and he kept Mariane Gueye on the field for 62 bleedin’ minutes in that semi final and he was useless for every one of those minutes, if I’m not mistaken he took him off after Suarez equalised, and tried to shut up shop after we we took the lead against a very poor Liverpool team, Inthink we had one poor shot on target in that second half with Jones a third place goalie between the sticks!
The counter argument is - that was then with Moyes Mk I and this is now with the new improved Moyes Mk II

I'm a bit of a doubter / somewhere in between.
Proof of Moyes conversion along the road to Damascus notwithstanding, I know people can learn as they go*, but I'm also of the mind that most people don't change, they basically get more so.

Moyes will be Moyes?

The longer he's here...and make no mistake, I was well over Dyche and I'm as pleased a punch that Moyes (somebody anybody)
came in and tweaked the team ( * the benefits of learning as you go?) to get a tune out of the limited squad.
my big fear is that the lo ger he's here and as we hopefully improve, Moyes will revert to his old ways**

** anyway, lets improve first, then worry about if he's us holding back.

Finished 5th and completely shat the bed. Moyes would have pushed for the title with most of his teams if he was given Lukaku but you know all this already. He got 4th with Marcus Bent FFS.😂

Anyone questioning Dave remember this is the last known pic of him. Good luck getting any sense out of him.

The issue here is that Moyes Mk1 made some shocking decisions at KEY moments that stopped any realistic chances of a breakthrough success.

That is sustained. And anyone who lived through all of his time here first time around knows that to be the case.
And that’s your opinion.

I was commenting on your assertion that Moyes should have picked Drenthe for the Cup semi-final and that cost us a place in the final. Despite all the evidence to the contrary from the player and team mates that he was treated correctly by Moyes.

I have watched Everton home and away since 1970 and apart from 1984-87 and 1995 the footballing success has been pitiful for the positions we have been in.

It seems that Moyes1 is in good company with Bingham,Lee,Harvey,Kendall 2, Walker,Kendall 3, Smith,Martinez,Koeman,Allardyce,Benitez,
Lampard and Dyche.

Are you still angry at Billy Bingham as well for throwing away the 74-75 league title?

We won f.a.

We played some ok football for about 10% of the time.

The only thing Moyes had going for him was he kept us relegation-proof.

That is all.
I think perhaps he had a little more than that David, we were a regular top 8 team, played some very nice football and he left a very solid basis to build on. The problem was that the manager chosen to succeed him was unable to move us on a level. Martinez's first season was great, while the team still possessed the Moyes organisation at the back, but, really, when you consider the foundation Moyes left, Martinez and Kenwright made a proper mess of a good opportunity.

I'd take more of the same this time, he's not here for the long haul, but it he can leave a squad even resembling the level of the one he left last time, there is a great base for the next man to build on.

Fake news Dave he done that with David Moyes's defence. When the defence started moving on and Martinez had to buy his own that is when Martinez limitations were highlighted. Very good attacking coach but couldn't defend to save his life.

And that was with Romelu Lukaku dropping into his lap, a 20 odd goal a season striker and the only way Roberto was allowed to buy him was by selling Fellaini another Moyes success story signing.

Unless the Fellaini money was kept back until the following season that doesn’t match up with the timeline. Lukaku initially joined on loan in the summer window of 2013. We didn’t buy him outright until the following summer.

So technically he didn’t have to sell Fellaini for Rom. If anything the money was probably part used on McCarthy, Kone and McGeady (Jan)

Then fans are engaged more because we're getting more activity in the opposition box.

You dont need Moyes to achieve that.

Look, he's here and he's done a reasonable job in the time here taking us to safety, but nowhere near as impressive as his supporters here would have you believe.

Forgive me if I dont wipe my memory bank clean and welcome the rat back into the fold - under any circumstances let alone a mixed bag of results.

Reasonable job ? Nobody in the league has earned more points than us in the time he’s been here …

Let's give credit were credit is due. Dyche has assembled this squad but stopped getting a tune out of them. Moyes has come in and relieved the pressure massively.

"Unbeaten in six league matches (W4, D2). - 14 points earned- 14 goals scored. The David Moyes effect 𝐢𝐬 clear and obvious".

Was against Moyes being appointed pre-Dyche leaving. I thought he'd just be a slightly better version of him at best, playing the sort of football that had West Ham fans baying for his sacking even though he won them a European trophy. Happy to say he has massively exceeded my expectations. The first 69 odd minutes against Spurs were the best I'd seen us play in ages, and it has largely continued that way. Disappointing to have let Utd back in the game the other day, seemingly a bit of the "old Moyes" creeping back in, but considering we should have had a pen to win it I can accept being disappointed at dropping 2pts v Utd (even if they are a shadow of their former selves) at this point in time. Hoping for a good result this eve, and more importantly an entertaining performance that shows his and ours continued improvement.

Can someone remind me what year it is please? Could have sworn it was 2025, but I must have imagined the last 6/7 years - had this terrible dream we nearly got relegated a bunch of times and even had Sam Allardyce and Benitez as managers!
