Why was he out of work? Because of his crappy out dated tactics.
Due to the West Ham cycle. West Ham fans want good football so hire a manager for it, they sack him as the results don't come, they clamour for pragmatism, they get it and do ok, they then want good football...

Am genuinely staggered at all those on here bemoaning this appointment because it’s not something better. Living in a dreamland, they are. We’re on the floor right now. We are no longer attractive. No longer ‘big’. No longer relevant.

Boring, mundane, unexciting 12th/13th/14th place finishes (for a period) would be much better than what we have right now. Until we pass through a period like that, the exciting future many seem to think is ours by right (and immediately so) will never come to pass. Stability first.

All these ideas of an immediate change of direction are bonkers, naive and frankly, deluded.

Moyes is only a problem if TFG think he’s the beginning, middle and end of our journey.

The ceiling isn’t really defined by Moyes or any other manager in that position though, it’s defined by the clubs at the top of the league and the resources that put them there.

How many times has that ceiling been breached in over 30 years? Three? What good has that done for Blackburn and Leicester? Any time a team looks like breaking through they drop away due to the structural inequalities in the game. The only team to manage it has been City and they are about to be cut off at the knees for what they had to do to succeed.

Moyes has been the only manager I can think of to have a club at least knocking at the door for an extended period of time and he did it with less than limited resources. He deserves criticism for his Everton facing behaviour when he left for ManU but the job he did for the club was exceptional.

As I've said.

Eternally grateful for what Moyes did. Kenwright was ready to appoint Megson, and got lucky.

For Moyes to get us ticking, was absolutely outstanding. But it felt like he'd admitted defeat.

I think a lot of people seem to forget just how fed up the fans were by the end, we played Bolton a Tuesday night in Jan, and it was subtle 30,000 attendance.

He peaked with the side which lost to Fiorentina, and my personal last straw was bottling a Semi to the worst Liverpool side in 2 decades.

Ignoring his behaviour following his departure. He's spent alot of money at West Ham (regardless of net spend).

I just am struggling to see where everyone's excitement is coming from

And despite my huge negativity on the situation, I do hope he proves me wrong. I just fear the worst.

Oh it makes no logical sense I know

I’d actually been enjoying not caring much since they brought in dyche. Accepting what he was and not giving a crap about how we performed so long as we stay up

But they sack him and wake me up for an hour just to make one of the worst moves possible imho

To avoid this situation, all Sean Dyche had to do was simply stand stand still from last season. Or regress a tiny amount even. He couldn’t do that, which is a shame. Here we are once again slugging it out at the bottom.

at least we wake up today and the chancer that is Dyche is no longer manager of Everton. Moyes, hopefully will have us scoring more goals and accumulating a few more points, but its not a given...

Hope things improve quickly...

Will we be able to spend in the transfer window?

As i understand we are still sailing close to the PSR limits...?

Like many on here, I was upset about the way he moved to Utd then looked at cherrypicking our players. One decent thing about Moyes is that he has an eye for a good player. Now let’s see what happens……

I'm not denying he did a decent job on a shoestring. But we always go poundshop when we should be aiming higher. Moyes has done nothing since he left us apart from win some Mickey Mouse conference European thingy.
I'm not a fan of this appointment by any means but I'd give a bollock for that, call it Mickey mouse all you want but a trophy is a trophy
