David Moyes thinks Fellaini could become Cahill's long term replacement in the hole.

In common parlance they're used to mean the exact same thing.

Common parlance uses lots of subtly different terms as synonyms.

My opinion on Fellaini has always been that his job is mostly defensive (winning the bal, tackling, intercepting etc) but his positioning has always been fairly attacking.

You cannot reasonably refer to him as a holding midfielder because holding is a term that refers solely to positioning.

Yes you can, and people frequently do.

If you asked Marouane to describe his midfield position he would shrug and say, "Heh, I donmind, Everton is good team and most important is Everton play well".

Fellaini playing deeper today- what did people think?

He's such a strong player but I feel like he needs a run of games there to get back to his best. Would love us to sign another forward / right winger so we can play Fellaini deep regularly

His best game since he was banned against Stoke, I think.

Bit smug about it being Neville/Fellaini not Osman/Fellaini too.

yesterday showed why i dont want him behind the striker. we are way too reliant on him when played there and he can easily get completely marked out of the game. we have absolutely no plan b. playing him up there should be the plan b
