I'd prefer a muted silence throughout the whole game and cheering at half time and full time. It would be far more unsettlingly if all he could hear was a low level mumbling throughout the game.

I believe that being silent throughout the match is the best way forward, maybe even the allowance of slight mumbling. Maybe a muttered chant of Everton from the Gwladys stand that fades out half way through. This way we can hear the players talk and hear what the manager shouts so we get a lot of insight into tactics etc. Preferably a team like Fulham for the away fans.
