How about this theory.

1. The deal was almost sealed mid summer and Henen was on his way to Everton.

2. Henen got excited and couldn't contain his excitement so he posted a few pics of him at goodison and kept publicly announcing his fated move to Everton when the dotted line hadn't been signed.

3. This angered the Anderlecht bossman and they banished the distraught Henen by telling him you are Not going Everton.

4. So Henens agent called Olympiacos and they gorrim and Everton purchased him through them.

5 .....

According to the Mail now Anderlect wanted £3m for Henen which is what caused the delay. We were only willing to pay £1.5m.

What I don't get though is Olympiacos. Did they pay the £3m? Why did they loan him to us within an hour of us signing him? Why did we loan him when another club swooped in on our deal? Is he gonna be worth half of what he is now in a year or something? What would Olympiacos get from this other than making a £1.5m loss at least? If they aren't going to sell us him on the cheap then why are we bothering when we won't spend £3m on him now when his price might increase?

Apparently the way the Lukaku deal is structured led to Anderlecht getting £1.5m less than they thought they were entitled to, hence them demanding the shortfall.

Olympiakos have just made a few quid for [Poor language removed] all and we've saved £1m.

Happy days all around

you sauced Wayno?

This is a genuine non-sarcastic request: Help me understand how this is good for us. As I understand the deal, we are paying his wages while we improve him. Realistically, he does not have any impact on our first team, so the loan doesn't help us in area. If he gets better, we will have to buy him at an inflated price (which have been inflated by our investment in his development). I realize we are canny brokers, so show me how this is the coup that I imagine it is.

No idea. I can only assume that we have set a buy price next summer from now. However, if that is the case, then why did Olympiacos sign him for 4 years?
Weird one. Alternatively, we are skint and only wanted to loan him until next summer. And hope to God if turns out to be any good, Olympiacos will still be willing to sell him to us?

I think I hate him too but I'm sort of relieved we finally got him since if he went somewhere else you know he'd end up a 1 in 2 striker for the rest of his career. Not that he'll do anything of note with us mind.

Absolutely nailed it lol

Can someone give me a brief synopsis of what has happened - have we signed him or not, basically?

Surely taking the lad on loan for a year is just some crafty ploy by us to keep the whole deal looking proffessional then, cos its not as if we can send him back next season saying the blokes a dud and letting olympiakos take the hit on him and losing out on whatever money it was! wouldnt of looked much different then that traore deal if we had signed him this year off monaco!

Billy Kenwright never forgets..........this has Bill Kenwright smoke and mirrors written all over it, and one thing is certain...Everton will benefit one way or the other. If Kenwright was as rich as Abramovich he would have built Chelsea for half as much as the Russian.
