So basically Olympiakos financed the transaction, and I assume there is an agreed price for a permanent transfer at the end of the season if his training and play goes well. If not, nothing ventured, nothing lost.

I don't really understand the angst about this deal. We didn't want to pay Anderlecht's fee until we were more certain about his future, and insured ourselves against the kid being a dud.

Pretty much.. And Henens agent is Mirallas's and has ties to Olmpiakos.. Easy..
 
3rd party ownership was too complicated.

Olympiakos bought him to give us time to sort out the ownership issues which mau still be there as a %.

In a year they will be resolved and we pay a pre agreed fee to olympiakos.

Im guessing.
 
I have no idea what's going on with this deal. It's obvious that Olympiakos is the middle-man in this scenario and was brought in simply to facilitate the move and make a small fee. Questions I had:

1) Did Olympiakos pay £3 million or is that wrong?
2) If they paid less, why couldn't Everton have done the same? Did we have a falling out with Anderlecht?
3) Olympiakos must have some kind of permanent transfer language in the Everton loan deal. I don't think they would have gotten involved otherwise. Are Everton stuck paying "more" than £3 million in 12 months? Is there any condition where we don't have to sign him in 12 months?
4) If we end up paying more than what Anderlecht wanted, why would we do that?
5) Was Henen's behavior at Anderlecht an issue in this? It sounds like he was refusing to play or train.

So many questions and it's frustrating that we'll likely never know what really happened. It's hard to get excited for this kid when we don't know where he'll be in 12 months and it's doubtful he'll help Everton's 1st team this year.
 

Crazy deal, but I cannot see how it isn't a good deal for Everton.
This time last year we took Lukaku on loan and had no chance whatsoever of making that deal a permanent one!?
If the lad impresses we will have a full 12 months to iron out any issues / 3rd party ownership or otherwise.
If he turns out to be a wasted talent we have not made a commitment and so he is off the books asap.
He has a year to get his head down and work for a transfer, that is how I see it.
 
All I knew was the deal was done, this though is completely bizarre. It doesn't even explain the delay. Also to any beauts saying I'm making things up all I do is get passed info on from someone within the club. Hint, it's not martinez so nothing is concrete. If I could give you 100% accurate info from the horses mouth I would. I get told things in good faith and relay them, the guy is accurate most of the time but we've had a strange few weeks transfer wise. There is money to spend so it may be we are waiting to see what we need come January unlike last year.

The loan fee we pay them is "generous"...we guarantee to buy at the fee they just paid to the bad Belgian rip off spivs....they may even be given a percentage of any sell on pofit we later make on the kid ?

I think it's followed the following order mate;

1. He looked like he was joining ages ago and he was an exciting talent
2. It dragged on a bit and he moved from exciting talent to having been turned down by other clubs
3. Got photographed in the back of a taxi and it was a done deal, therefore back to exciting talent
4. Dragged on again and he became a terrible unproven footballer and one of the most hated men on Merseyside
5. Done deal on deadline day, we're keeping him, he's a future superstar.
6. The done deal is with Olympiakos, he's a judas and was crap anyway, no loss.
7. Olympiakos have loaned us him, he's a future superstar

So I generally have no idea if he's any good.
