How do you know how much money he paid for everything, Dave? What France did is a fantastic thing. Nobody was forced to sell their stuff to him (and, in fact, what he did for Gordon West brings a tear to my eye) and the collection amounts to an incredible personal achievement as well as a magnificent tribute to Everton Football Club. Hats off to David France, OBE. Should be a knighthood.

If any tit in the media dares claim Bill Kenwright is "the greatest living Evertonian"

I will simply say David France. Bares no comparison really. They arnt even in the same league.

It was valued by Sothebys at £1.2M; France asked and got £800,000 for it. The club (incredibly IMO, given it's their property in any case) lumped in £250,000 toward getting it back - and if no one thinks that's strange I dont know what's classed as strange in your world!.

Do you believe France spent £800,000 on getting it all together? If not, he got a drink out of it to say the very least.

And by the way, if you believe the original story put forward was that France had found the ledgers 'on a skip' then that's even more of a result.

I've no hesitation in praising France for his Blueblood Foundation work, but I'm not having it that he's gained zero out of this. It could have been more no doubt.

So come on Dave K. You've bad mouthed Dr France OBE with this "profit" claim amongst others.

How much did he actually make on all this?

Your typical agenda Dave as per is a disgrace really. The man spent 25 years collecting all that together and you try and demean the man.

I call it jealously. But we know your agenda and outlook is one of spite anyway.

You accused BK of pocketing £3M per year for scouting fees.

How was it the club's property? I'm genuinely confused here.

Pure conjecture on your part, then. It's quite possible that he spent that on putting it together - entirely plausible, in fact - after all he is a man of means and did spend 25 years on it. Given all the travelling he did to view many of the pieces he may even have spent more than £800,000 but it is irrelevant anyway. I for one wouldn't begrudge him making a few quid after all the effort he put in, especially since he wouldn't sell unless it was agreed that the collection should never be broken up and that none of it should ever be leant to Liverpool Football Club.

Is this for real? It's the club's property by virtue of the fact it's their (and therefore our) history. It'd be like me finding all your family heirlooms and selling them back to you.

You believe he paid £800,000 on pennants, programmes, cigarette cards etc (because the ledgers were found on a skip and therefore zero cost)? Good luck with that.

I clicked on this thread expecting to read something happy and heartwarming. I'm off to slit my wrists, happy new bleeding year......
