Thos term "Greatest living Evertonian" is a crock of sh*te.

There's probably at least 20+ candidates who post on here who can claim to be a bigger Evertonian than Kenwright or this France chap.

Nick Barmby is a greater living Evertonian than Kenwright.

Because that is a trotted out title that in the boards PR campaign was as if they were doing us all a favour.

David France has done ALOT for EFC in general. The collection he amassed ensures we have the enjoyment of the worlds biggest sports memorabilia collection for generations.

Something the FA's equivalent comes to US (EFC) to borrow stuff from. That says it all.

Davek, the property is not the clubs. It was France's. The wonders of capitalism eh?

Dr France deserves kudos for collecting this, afaik, there isn't a collection like it in the world. Who cares if he made money off it, part of life.

David France has done a lot for Everton and so preserving the social history of Merseyside in general. IF he made a profit from this so what? Personally I don't give a shiote, good luck to him.

I met him when my folks work sponsored the game and I got to go behind the scenes and watch the game in the directors box. It was the Cadamarteri derby. Great man great day.

Congratulations David

Is this for real? It's the club's property by virtue of the fact it's their (and therefore our) history. It'd be like me finding all your family heirlooms and selling them back to you.

No, it's not. Your analogy seems to be something like a toy shop selling loads of lego and action men then demanding them back from crestfallen nine year olds.

You believe he paid £800,000 on pennants, programmes, cigarette cards etc (because the ledgers were found on a skip and therefore zero cost)? Good luck with that.

Guesswork, like I said, then. By all means, state what you think might have happened, hopefully with some sort of sound reasoning, and frame it that way. But don't go stating conjecture as gospel and expect to be taken seriously. And you call Billy Liar...

I tell you what, I bet a pound to a pinch of shite that there's no receipts for the ledgers and other minuted documents (the jewel in the crown and most expensive items). The club woudn't get them back without paying because it would have opened up a whole can of worms on the practices of the outgoing Johnson regime...something they'd want to keep off the table (as I'm sure this present lot will insist whenever we get new owners).

Reggardless of all that, I say again: morally, who'd want to own and sell on our club's history?

Not me, that's for sure.

As i say: France has done good work with the Foundation, and this isn't a character assasination. I just pose the opinion that it's not the black and white case it'sbeing presented like.
